I need more KZbin videos on classical lolita. Being someone who truly feels stuck in time, I think this'll help me a lot. Because it has the cutness, like that of something a doll would wear and old-timey traditions mixed with cute prints. But as I was watching this video, I couldn't help but notice that I can kind of mix sweet and classical to make it more playful yet mature at the same time and still have it be classical. I'll surely look into that.

There are lots of Lolita all over the world who buy clothing online and/or make their own clothing! You can also try attending a swap meet with local Lolita to buy some clothes in person. Don't let being outside of Japan stop you from being a Lolita!!

+Rainah Roddey you can wear lolita anywhere. there really is no appropriate place to wear it. no matter where you go you'll get odd reactions so just DO YOU and dress how you want. Always remember though that its only a style of clothing not a way of life. you don't have to feel weird or bad about it because its not as commonplace as other 'looks'. I know middle school is a hard place to feel comfortable coming out and being yourself but its the start and push you need in order to build your self identity. you should know who you are and dress how you feel like dressing. in the 6th grade i bought my first lolita dress. In the 10th grade I bought my first pin-up dress. I wore both styles along with a punk goth look and a normal "girl next door look" I would alternate between these styles all throughout my high school days with confidence. Sure, you get rude commentary every blue moon or so and weird looks from the male teachers (female teachers fawn over your clothes), in then end of it all their opinions of how you dress don't matter because you like how you dress.

Beginner's Question: Are Scarves allowed in lolita if they match the coordinate? Can themes outside of the well known substyles like techno, egyptian, pin up, or others be used in Lolita while still following the shape and modesty rules or does that make it to Costume-ish? If we choose to wear wigs, what are some great stores that specialize in higher quality realistic looking wigs that are a little more expensive bot not overpriced? Any other advice? Techno (or cyber) lolita used to be somewhat popular in 2009/10, but has fallen out of favor and I haven't seen it since. Egyptian lolita would never fly, it's cultural appropriation and therefore, racist to dress up as a culture that is not your own. Pinup lolita doesn't work either, as Lolita fashion is more demure and modest. Pinup is a lot more sexy and should be separate from lolita fashion for that reason. However, you can use similar color palates to make it a retro-inspired look.

Crystal Rosado I'm sorry, by your definition, isn't basically all Lolita fashion cultural appropriation? European Rococo and Victorian fashion did not originate in Japan, hello. I personally don't think any of it is a big deal, but if you're going to call one usage of non-native fashion cultural appropriation and not another, that's pretty foolish. Using another culture's fashion as inspiration is not inherently racist.

atelierfrost I wrote a longer comment that I seemed to have closed accidentally, so I'll try to write a more concise one. Japan has had increasing western influence since the 1750's, so as far as fashion was concerned, the Japanese people adopted it as a form of cultural assimilation as apposed to appropriation. This rings true to all other nations with western and colonial influence. In regards to lolita fashion, it could be seen as a revival of Japanese/Western conglomerate of Victorian/Rococo garments with a distinctly Japanese "kawaii" influence becoming it's own entity. In regards to mixing ancient Egyptian wear AND Lolita, there would be no way to do this respectively without it looking like a tacky costume. Then, that becomes disrespectful to the culture that it represents. Generally, the only modern day "Egyptian" clothing that you see are Halloween costumes made out of low quality fabric. Add the fact that traditional ancient Egyptian wear is looser and airier to accommodate the hot climate, it's clear that Ancient Egyptian x Lolita wouldn't work anyhow because you can't keep to the silhouette.

Sweet dresses also have ruffles and lace though, ruffles and lace are kind of a staple of Lolita fashion. If it's baby pink or a really bright pink colour than it's probably sweet, most classic dresses are in muted colours so the pinks you see from classic brands such as Victorian Maiden, Mary Magdalene, or Innocent World are dusty pink (disclaimer: Innocent World sometimes make sweet dresses too, so they do have a few dresses in baby pink but they aren't classic)

In the west, it's called "old school lolita," referring to the fashion before 2006. After 2006-now, lolita fashion has become a lot more over the top and detailed. Old school or traditional, is a lot more simplified and plain.

She is confused, in shock and in severe pain as she explains this to the viewer as she explains her state, herself, to Helmut........ So in truth, as a female, she is still a virgin...... and enjoys only pain, humiliation, disgust and horror at sex with Helmut.... But she knew before she married him that Helmut, That Helmut ....ah That Helmut was...... That Helmut, WAS A SADIST!!!! The movie ends with her, a paraplegic in a wheel chair, being pushed home from the hospital, by Helmut..... To at least, now a sex life, Hopefully without pain, without any feeling at all...
