Great video, but I don't think you used the right scene for the point at 6:12 about walking away when you spot red flags, like last minute changes to a deal. Chuck won that negotiation - he realised he didn't want the fight to be over and wanted to get Bobby in a more compromised position in the future, so he purposefully crashes the deal, but made Bobby do it so it wouldn't look like his own fault. So not only did he get under Bobby's skin, he also got the outcome he wanted. Bobby got played in that negotiation, it wasn't about him making a power play.
@Kaiser684 жыл бұрын

How do I negotiate with a teacher who has marked me inappropriately in an assignment? I know this teacher doesn't like me and has cut off marks unnecessarily. 'Negotiating' with her isn't really possible because she has nothing to gain from me, so how do I convince to give me the marks I deserve?
@NotHPotter4 жыл бұрын
I mean, the real question is why do you deserve higher marks? Was there a mistake they made in grading an assignment? If so, calmly and respectfully point it out, and request they fix it. If it's something more subjective, calmly and respectfully make the case as to why your work deserves higher marks. If this is just an attempt to raise you final grade at the end of the semester, it's probably too late to do much, and the best you can do is ask and hope for the best. Proper negotiation is a long-term project, and if you've been slacking all semester, you've already undermined your position.
@rafaelferes43624 жыл бұрын
I think you should try talking to the teacher. I feel like I made some bad choices, but I want to improve. What do you suggest me to do? Some book? How can I improve my answers to the tests? (If the teacher is not a complete prick it's possible that you reset the relationship and get a second chance). Have in mind that there is a difference in power, so going to the "how can I be a better student for you?" will be far more effective than pointing any flaws on the teacher. Yes, even if you did nothing wrong. Play the game, know how to pick you battles. I have a friend that is stuck in college for 8 years because of one teacher and he refuses to play the game "because it's the teacher fault"

@@NotHPotter I had been working on this assignment for well over a month, when I know my friends started only a week before. I started early because I like to finish off the work, leave it and then revisit it a week later. This allows me a better perspective on what I've written, so I can incorporate another point of view and edit out anything that I feel is unnecessary. Then I repeat the process one more time. I finally, go through my notes again, proof read and only then I deem the project complete. For past all my semesters, I have consistently been a top student and haven't much issues with any of the teachers (even if I like them or not). Yet this one seems to pick favourites and pick on me for no real reason (I have been answering in class, have been respectful, have been on time... I just don't know what her deal is) She set a very short word limit for the paper, and I managed to adjust all the important info within that. In her feedback, she said I could have discussed a specific portion in detail. I see her point, but given her word limit, it wasn't possible. I discussed this issue with my classmates too, and they have written similarly. Some have gotten even higher marks, despite covering similar themes vaguely. What's even more appalling is that the teacher's favourite student, who didn't use to particularly perform very well has apparently scored the highest marks. I realise that she could've have improved this time, but only in this subject? This makes me, and my other classmates too a tiny bit suspicious. Anyway, my point isn't to bring the other student down, she can have whatever marks. I care about mine and I think the teacher has been partial in marking me :(

Most of them are good tips that many people still use during negotiations. However, don't expect them to always work favorably. This analysis is done on a FICTIONAL character. Any fictional character can succeed if that's what the author wants, regardless of what he does. Real life and fiction is very different. This analysis is about as good as learning how to date girls from watching Korean dramas.
@antonsichkar56254 жыл бұрын
Exactly this is totally useless - their premise is: this fictional character used those tactics in the movie; therefore they should be successful and applicable to real life. But that's simply not true. No one would think of using a fighting techniques they see in a movie in real life and not get killed in a robbery, etc. Overall: a pretty useless video..
@Nadzap4 жыл бұрын
@@antonsichkar5625 Not useless at all. The writers of this show pay lots of attention to detail to body language. Sure, its not all entirely realistic, but if you watch the series you can see through the way Axe carries himself, sets his eyes, and talks that the writers have carefully designed his character's body language to be synonymous with his success. I see your point, but there is more to Billions than just fiction.

Growing up poor and returning to poverty several times was the best thing that happened for my negotiating skills. I've traded everything I've owned for knowledge several times now, and doing that again doesn't scare me anymore. If anyone ever tries to give me a short timeframe for a deal, I refuse on principle even if the deal actually matches the bar I set for myself in my head before walking into it. I work with you, not for you.
