I swear by this stuff, I've used it for years. It was a staple in the bike shop I worked in in the 90s. I have used it from cleaning chains to polishing motorcycles. Great stuff and the smell is amazing, only a while back I found out that it was lavender that they add to make it smell nice.

Succinct, thanks! “IF” you have a portable air compressor, it’s the quickest/best way to dry your chain/derailleur/brakes etc. Another great substitute is a residential leaf blower…my cordless blower puts out a pretty good stream of air to get any water out of the cassette etc.. I know this seems like overkill but it takes me less than 30 seconds…

That little red hose/straw thing for GT85, you can cut it into maybe 3 pieces, so if you lose one it's no biggy. Cut it long enough to keep the spray precise, too short and the straw is pointless. Once you start they tend to accumulate when buying new cans, so you never run out and you can even lend one to a friend (exciting gifts).

Paraffin wax and ptfe chain treatment means there's no oil to attract dirt, or to hold onto the metal swarf that collects as your chain and cassette wear out. Bradley set the world time trial record with wax & ptfe. It's so clean it's hard to believe, just a quick rinse and soft brush down when you get home. Oily days are over if you do, and the wax gives a quiet ride.

Using wax based chain lubricant (like Squirt lub) save soooooo much time during bike cleaning juste because the chain doesn’t get dirty !!
@TheBassallyear100
@TheBassallyear100 4 жыл бұрын
I've used Squirt (a lot) and won't use it again. it gunks up too much over time and ends up being a bigger mess. I tend now to flip-flop backwards and forwards between hot wax dip (absolutely the cleanest and very efficient when you get the formula right) and using either Rock n Roll Gold or Rock n Roll Extreme. For the UK I'd be more inclined to use Extreme. I've been riding solely indoors on Zwift since the end of March but all of good cleaning tips still hold true from Francis since the bike gets so covered in sweat. RnR Gold has been used as lube that entire time though since it's far more convenient than full hot dip wax.

I bike commute 18km each way and all I do is wipe the chain and remove the gunk around shifting cables. If needed, I wipe off the rims to keep the grit off. I don't do this every ride. The chain I might wipe it off more often. I keep it simple and I am not concerned about a dirty bike. Dirty bike doesn't concern me, and I am not a mountain biker or roadie. I got fenders, hub dynamo, brooks flyer, steel frame, good stuff, and I am thinking about downgrading the xt stuff because I don't need to worry about weight and the expensive stuff wears out fast and costs a lot more. I work shifts and I only do the necessary tasks for keeping my ride comfortable and reliable.
