5 Minute Cardmaking Techniques - Coloring with Bleach

In today's 5-Minute Cardmaking Technique video, I show you how to use household bleach as a coloring medium. It's an oldie but goody but one I forget to use! If you're a new stamper, this one is a must-try and the results are always so fun to see as the card stock changes color right before your eyes! I used the Warm Spring Wishes stamp set twice this week so you'd have a couple of cards to try.

Stormy Sky (for bleaching)
Innocent Pink card base
White and Black accents

I haven't seen this technique for years. Back in my early days of stamping, used to use gel dishwasher soap to stamp. One used wood mounted stamps then. Also heat embossing wasn't a thing yet. The gel didn't run like plain bleach. Bleach pens were better. But, more expensive. Either stamped with it or brushed it to color. It was an awesome technique. I like what you did. I will give it another try. Heat embossing looks like better control too. Thanks

Really lovely card! I didn’t realize that cardstock will bleach out to different colors. Always thought they would be white after bleaching. Thank you for your wonderful tutorial!

It has been a long time since I've seen this technique, and I'm glad that you shared it with us. If I remember correctly, some colors/brands of cardstock don't take bleach really well, and they look a little muddy. Yours turned out so bright and beautiful. I don't know, I think bleach is the only thing. You could try a bleach pen but it's still bleach.

This technique is beautiful... that 'buttery yellow' is a gorgeous color. Can you add color on top of the bleach in certain areas later, after the bleach is dry, if you wanted? Beautiful card. Thank you for sharing.

You can but you do have to let it sit awhile and really dry first.

I loved this and was excited to try but it didn’t work for me. Does it have to be a certain kind of card stock? It didn’t turn it any color at all. I just used a gray color I had. I probably did something wrong which is usually the case with me🥴
