SO MANY of those knife hacks feel like "nervous/scared to work with knives? Here's how to feel better (but actually make it even EASIER to injure yourself)!", and I get it, sharp things can be scary, but you'd be better off getting a sharp knife (dull knives aren't safer, don't make that mistake) and a stable cutting board (board sliding around when you cut? put it on top of a damp towel, boom! stable as heck) and just going slowly and paying close attention as you go (know where your fingers are, know where the knife will go down, make sure they never meet; if you pay attention to that and go slow that's fewer injuries while you practice and build your confidence cutting things). Heck, maybe there's local cooking classes or something that can help teach you technique if you never learned how to work with one.

I use a silicone muffin pan to freeze measured "pucks" of stuff, like quarter cups of half and half for cooking or scoops of beans. I have to get creative cooking for one. When stuff is frozen you pop it out and put it in a labeled bag in the freezer. I even do that with food for my pets- I have some that eat veggies and making a mix then freezing it is so useful.
@allih80212 ай бұрын
I do this too! I have a couple of silicone "trays" that are specifically for this that are 1/2 cup size and 1 cup size. Makes saving leftovers or meal prep components (like stock) so easy - and I love that they are individually portioned. It's so awesome!

Some cans don't work very well with the cutting the bottom off the top. If you have one that the bottom looks the same as the top of the can (the way it is sealed) then it is a good one to try it with. It is super helpful for super thick food items like refried beans.

So when I get asparagus at the store, it comes with rubber bands on the top and bottom, so basically I just move the bottom rubber band to where I would cut the bottom off, and then cut just above the rubber band, the bottom bits stay together, I then drop the bundle into the trash after taking off the rubber band and saving it.

I feel like you've have fun making "pita pizzas": - You just get some store-bought pita breads. (Yes fancier pita is probably better, but this is a cheap recipe, not an extravagant one.) - Some pizza sauce (store bought works, but you're a chef, you can probably make your own) - Whatever cheese you want to use, shredded or sliced if you have to. (I prefer Muenster, most people prefer Mozzarella, but it also works with any cheese, even non-dairy melty-cheese-like products) - And an array of standard pizza toppings. (meats should be pre-cooked, for safety... I'm usually content with chicken, mushroom, and olives, but you can put anything out you think your guests would want) - Grab a pita, don't open it, just leave it as is. - Put how much sauce you want on it. Leaving some pita to crisp into a crust. - Put how much cheese you want, - and pick and choose what toppings to put on there too. (gets harder to get right, anywhere past 3 toppings, but it can work) - Then pop it in an oven (300-375 degrees, not an exact science, if the cheese is melty, it's probably fine), a toaster oven (don't own one, you'll have to figure it out yourself), or even a microwave (still don't own one, but also wouldn't really recommend), - and cook it until the cheese gets melty. - serve up and Enjoy. Careful sometimes it needs to cool just a little. Very customizable, easy to let people pick out their own pizzas instead of as a group, and kind of fun too. I've made them at random kids parties, teenager's graduation parties, big sports-game home gatherings, and even just some older friends that consider themselves foodies, and wanna have some fun messing around with their food too.

Ro! At 23:20 you can put your can opener horizontal, it cuts the entire top of the can off! that way you don't struggle trying to cut the bottom of the can off, it works on any can, top or bottom!

I’m sort of surprised that the onion thing didn’t work, I’ve seen the hack where you take two mixing bowls and you put a bunch of garlic where you’ve chopped off the stem and you throw it in there and then you shake that around, and while the peels don’t just pop off,your hands get less dirty, and it does seem to help a lot. It’s not perfect or magic, but it definitely loosens them and makes it far easier. You do end up with two mixing bowls to clean, but it does seem better.

Than I peel the eggs under water, works very well for me! - I use glass cutting boards, never wooden ones. The egg peeling hack works better with a little water in the bottom. The main thing is not shaking it too hard. I use this one all the time and the water loosens up the membrane . I figure either way you have to wash something because I'd feel compelled to wash the countertop. I really only use it for big batches, though to be fair.
