I was hoping this video would be about getting your text to scroll automatically for you, like a teleprompter. Instead, it's about how to deliver a presentation, using your laptop instead of notecards.

Why did you hope for that? Was it in the title?

if you have a wireless mouse near you while reading lines, you can scroll manually and control the speed of the words moving on screen

Thank you so much for making this video. I came here researching different types of teleprompters and you've convinced me to give this a shot to avoid being a robot.

Wait, I...this video is about energy and knowing how to read, not a DIY teleprompter. This is wildly not at all what folks are looking for when they click this. Wow.

Well done @Wistia! These tips are going to be very useful for my upcoming speeches for an oral communication course I'm taking. I can see this also being extremely valuable for any upcoming KZbinrs (and other social media content creators); much more lively than when I'm reading off a 'script', that's for sure!

At first I was like "okay, nice troll job", then being the frugal minded man I am, gave it a shot, and have used this on my last two videos, which I think have had my best delivery. It's funny because I ended up breaking scripts down for videos in the past when I realized I couldn't memorize a straight minute of speech, but by writing my scripts with breaks in mind, I'm able to write stuff that actually flows better, because I'm planning my stops/cuts vs letting the limits of my memory determine those.

If you stay perfectly still between takes while you glance at the scrip on the laptop, you can actually have jump cuts that are completely undetectable.

The way you are presenting this makes it sound like you are still saying to memorize your lines.

I actually want a traditional teleprompter. Couldn't be bothered to memorize lines I have to say while face cam is on especially on topics I don't care or hate.

I don't get it: Your camera up there, your script down there, how do you look into the lense and read?
@alexandrevaliquette38832 ай бұрын
You don't... You read it, memorise it, then, hit REC and try to look natural and remember your lines. It won't work for me. I prefer a teleprompter. You can make one for about 1$ or less with trash and a piece of glass.

I've tried it and it's not for me at all. I get more stress from trying my best to remember my lines, so I don't act natural. With a teleprompter, I can read and look natural. It take less brain power I think. And you can make a nice DIY prompter for about 1$. So... I don't get your 500$ at 3:30 ?
