I enjoyed following this and was quite pleased with my finished sketch but i found the colour in my cheap ballpoint pen ran when i went over it with my marker pen. Also, from a personal point of view I prefer it when you stick with the overhead camera view as its easier to follow along than than the angled view. Thanks Martin

@thedigipen I liked the inclusion of the reference photo in this video - it helped me understand how you simplify the detail and break down the darker and lighter tones 👍

@martinwebb3394 thank you. Ive been trying to include more reference photos when possible. I'm working on a video that shows how I breakdown tones, too. But it will be a while before it gets finished.

How can you use a 65lb paper with Copic without bleeding through and leaving a mark on the page behind it? I found that Copic bleeds through even on a 145lb Bristol that is especially marketed "FOR MARKERS". I either have to remove the page (and use just a single page by itself) or put some protector sheet between pages so it won't leave a mark. Either way, the other side of the page won't be usable. I also have some Tombow ABT Pro brush markers, and while they are very nice they're also heavy bleeders. It seems markers that don't bleed through have special ink and they're mostly water based, although I do have a UniPin brush marker that has a pigment ink and that doesn't bleed either.

You are right. I get really bad bleed through. I have to put a piece of paper behind my page. When I started this series I just grabbed one of my (mostly) empty sketchbooks. This really just started as a test but I've kept this series of sketches in the same sketchbook. It doesn't surprise me that it even bleeds through the bristol board. To prevent bleed through you really need some type of coded paper. I do have a mixed media sketchbook that recently started to use for all my full scenes. The mixed media books are meant to handle light watercolor and can hold up to my alcohol markers.

@@thedigipen I have a Canson (Graduate) mixed media booklet at 135lb but even that bleeds. I really like your shading technique and hence started to practice it but the bleed is driving me where there are no roads :-) Oh well.
