thanks for this review! I've been thinking of getting a wireless mic kit to have better sound quality outside. I'm wondering how this particular one would hold up next to maybe a somewhat busy road?
@ScottDumas3 жыл бұрын
It should do just as well as any other lav style mic... if you're in a noisier environment, just pin it up closer to your mouth so that you can lower the gain and your voice will be loud in comparison to the surroundings because of how close it is. I doubt it would be much different than other kits in this design though.

Great review! I love my Godox setup and found a case at B&H made by Godox ( AK-R1) that fits the case, cables, and microphones very neatly. It's about 10.00. That was my only complaint with the system. My Deity set comes with a case big enough to hold everything, but you have to charge the Rec and Trans independently.

I think it's limited to the 2 in the kit. You could re-pair them with others (if one broke and was replaced, for example) but the Rx only has 2 channels

Oh I really liked that kit, but quite sad it has no internal recording and audio level isn't so responsive. One question, does the clip behind the receiver also fits the shoe mount on the camera like it does on the Rode?
@ScottDumas3 жыл бұрын
Yeah ...I mean, I usually judge the levels settings on my camera anyway, not the Tx/Rx, but I wish more of these kits had nice smooth response in their displays like Rode. Internal recording is such a great thing to have once you've used it too. The clip does fit in the shoe mount as well :)

@@ScottDumas Well Rode had a great improvement between their first model and second (in my opinion) I guess we'll see how Godox will do on the second. Lately began using my "Rode VideoMicro" knock off by Boya as a voiceover Mic, and I think adding some sound dampening panel or some material around when recording will make it super good

Thanks a lot! I was going to Lark 150 but this is almost half the price! Do you think this is better than Lark 150 considering the price? I'm tempted to this one but afraid of purchasing a "poor" product...
@ScottDumas3 жыл бұрын
It's hard to say. They're both nice kits with different appeals... If I had to choose just one I might go with the Lark because I know the company puts out solid products in general. Godox is great a lot of the time but also have some misses, and as one of their first mic kits, I might be a little wary of it. However! That's not to say I've had any issues with it in any way... if it's a better price or one of the features is really in line with you're looking for, I can definitely recommend it based on my personal experience. Hope that helps!

@ScottDumas2 жыл бұрын
Hi! So sorry to hear that. Kit lav mics are definitely where most companies save money unfortunately. I personally love the VT500 lav mic, and it's what I use in most situations where I'm using a Lav. Deity make some good ones as well and they have different sizes and even colors available. I'd recommend checking them all out to see what works for you :)

Scott thanks for this honest review. My OG Rode wireless Go is done and I'm looking for a new replacement this Godox system popped up and I've been looking at it more for cost. But just a question what are you thoughts on the DJI wireless system compared to this if you have done one or tested the DJI system? I'm looking for something easy, fast for my Tiktok videos for my Aviation page at the airport with lots of background noises. Thanks
@ScottDumas2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I haven’t tried DJI unfortunately, but in terms of speed and ease the Hollyland Lark150 is one of the best I’ve used. Auto power on and auto pairing when you take it out of the charging case, super fast to use. Almost all clip on style mics will have more or less the same amount of background noise pickup, but the Lark also sounds pretty decent quality wise, as does the Godox

@ScottDumas3 жыл бұрын
Hi! There are a bunch of kits now that are so similar it's hard to choose, but, I'd have to recommend Deity over everything because they have a bigger more professional ecosystem, and you can just start off with their new pocket wireless kit but then upgrade, and they're all cross compatible so you can use them all together even if/when you upgrade.

great and informative video! i love the special charging case and magnetic clip! which device would you recommend for indoor use? the comica BoomX-D D1 or the godox? (in terms of actual battery life and signal reliability)
@ScottDumas3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! For indoor use you just mean within a room? Not going through multiple walls etc? If so, then either will do pretty well and I haven't noticed much of a significant difference in battery life. I'd choose whichever appeals to you most in other features and design- for me, I'd go with Godox over Comica probably.

Is the lav mic worse than the device itself?
@ScottDumas3 жыл бұрын
In a lot of cases they are, since the lav mics included with these kits are often very cheap ones and they focus more on the built in mic. But of course, you could use any lav mic with a 3.5mm connection if you have a better one... and a lot of times placement can really affect it to- the built in mics are often right up near your neck and can have a more muffled bassy sound, whereas it's easier to position a clip on lav in a more appropriate spot to balance out how it sounds.

Hi Scott, great review. I currently own a Saramonic TX9/RX9 system but I'm looking to sell it because of how bulky and heavy it is. I know that one is UHF and these are 2.4GHz. Have you noticed any dropouts on these more compact 2.4GHz systems? That's my main concern. If connection quality is solid, I think I can give the lack of internal recording a pass. Also, how did you like the lav capsules? Because this including that at $200 seems like a steal compared to the rode at $450 for a similar combo.
@ScottDumas3 жыл бұрын
Most of these 2.4 systems only manage around 10-15m with your body in the way which is the biggest limitation, otherwise no major issues :) the lav mics here were actually decent as well, better than I expected at least.
