Teddy Maneclang yeah they’re so fast that even she manages to miss the notes. Look I love Mariah but I’m also a singer and vocal coach for over 29 years and I can’t stand when ppl say she’s so fast that you can’t hear all the notes she’s doing. It’s not true at all. She’s very fast at transitioning from a bottom note to a whistle note in a split second and even from register to register but when it comes to runs Mariah is just about as good as other singers. Runs are different then transitioning in registers and octaves. You have to practice scales in head and chest in order to be fluid, precise and fast. Mariah to me is not a great executioner of runs and often fumbled over her runs. She did get much better at nailing them down as she got older and practiced them more. But when it comes to riffs, I’ve heard better and faster. She’s just really good at them but there are others who are Amazing at them.

People that criticise her jaw when she does her vocal runs, it's like telling Lionel Messi how to dribble a ball, or like telling thor bjornsson how to deadlift. They all have uncommon technique with their own craft, but they're fucking good at it, top level. Yes there're general rules for singing (or anything) and most of the time you can decide something is bad if it's not fit with the rule. But there're also individualisation, because we're unique in one or some aspects. I'm 100% percent sure she aware of what she does, and know what works for her.

For ex beyonce also moves her jaw when she riffs and she hasnt shown any vocal damage, also ariana seems extremely comfortable with doing runs and riffs while moving her jaw and many vocal coaches say that moving ur jaw is unnecessary but its a stylistic choice for ari bcs it doesnt effect her vocals at all
