Greco-Roman wrestling is so much more difficult than freestyle wrestling due to holds below the waist or the use of legs not being allowed. Tried it when I was younger and it was just too hard.
@KamalaLovingMan Жыл бұрын
That also makes it "harder" for the opponent as well
@sillyarms84937 ай бұрын
I tried it too, and thought it was easier because it was simpler.
@ΧρήστοςΠλ7 ай бұрын
That 's debatable
@tsuchinoko94173 ай бұрын
@@ΧρήστοςΠλnot really. The athleticism and technical knowledge/variety is much higher in greco because you have to work purley with your handfighting and positioning and even then you have to be incredibly strong to lift a man of equal weight and throw him

Slightly different, but I've heard it said that freestylers are more agile and Grecos are more powerful.

@Christopher26021994 Жыл бұрын
@@jaydensmith443 Personally I think Greco-Roman wrestling is a great base for all other grappling styles. You learn techniques in the more upright position, need to build lots of strength too. And it is more simple. I'd choose Greco-Roman wrestling.

I started my wrestling career in 1971 when I was ten years old. My years as a wrestler had a positive impact on my life. Discipline, diligence, will, perseverance and resistance to pain have given me a great career. I wouldn't want to miss a second of those years. By the way, at that time we were still fighting 3 x 3 minutes, sometimes it felt like we were going through hell.

I remember going to one of my first freestyle and greco tournaments in high school. There was this one kid that was much better than everyone else and I wrestled him a few times. He would 5 point throw me alot. This one time I knew it was coming so I just rolled with it instead of landing on my head. I remember the ref complimented me on going with it instead of trying to fight against it just so I wouldn’t get hurt. It didn’t matter for my folk style career so I didn’t care about losing 😂
@thekalamazookid4481 Жыл бұрын
I wish there was a club near me for this when I was in school. I went far in folks style relative to my low inexperience because I was strong. I could pick people up all day but I wasn't quite smooth enough to get ankle picks or anything like that. I could alligator roll like a mofo and rag dog people but you can't slam in folks style unfortunately.
