Nc4 was terrible, if you want to win a position with opposite coloured bishops the last thing you want to do is trade knights. Black has a passed pawn two squares from queening, more active pieces, and fewer weaknesses. A move like Na4 may or may have ended up winning or maybe not, but it would have allowed black to keep pressing for a long time with very little risk.

Shocked Gukesh played the exchange French with an early queen exchange when he has generally been fighting for a win in his games thus far. Very dry and disappointing game.
@krzysztofkolodziejczyk4335Күн бұрын
one can't just give away white game advantage like that. i suspect Gukesh didn't prepare for french at all for the match.

Thank you, Ben. So far the quality of games played have been meh at best. Each player’s victory seems to be self inflicted by their opponents. I’m surprised seeing the French considering A.I. have clobbering the French black pieces with lopsided results. I stopped watching the livestream just waiting for the short recap like your channel. Cheers 🍻

@@fundhund62 exchange French, immediate heavy exchanges, bad mistakes at the only contested moment in the game, throwing away that pawn on d3 in the end is just an insult to everyone, why don't you agree to a draw instead It is fine to have a brief draw when you need to rest or to prepare, but this was not it
@nickus51Күн бұрын
@@jindrichzapletal5822They are not allowed to offer a draw that early. I do agree that the quality od the game was on the lower end of the spectrum. At the same time though, I can understand it from psychological point of view.
@fundhund62Күн бұрын
@jindrichzapletal5822 What's wrong with the exchange French? 🤔 It's just another try, like there are many others. Same with exchanges, top grandmasters don't need queens to play for a win. As for the bad mistakes, they weren't that bad, actually. He may have played Na4 instead of Nc4, or Bh5 instead of Bc6, but a draw would have been likely in any case.
