FYI to all the other new writers out there. I paid $300 for a day long seminar for new authors. It was interesting and I don't regret doing it. But, this channel provides the same level of quality and breadth of information I got in that seminar. Here, the only cost involved is sitting through an occasional You Tube ad, which is awesome. However, the seminars let you talk directly with other authors, which is important too.

Mistake #3 is an easy one to make. The research I've done indicates that you aren't likely to be successful as an author until you've published around 20 books because it takes about that much time to hone your skills. Failure is success in its infancy.

I'm focusing on three genres. Sci-Fi, fantasy, and horror with some comedy. Not only they are my favorite genres, but I read many books based on them, including humor and subgenre ones. AI is great for knowing the tropes and what readers expect.

I confess that I love your original Alice cover.

Same. I thought the idea of progressively coloring it in was genius. Course, I'm not a comic reader, so there you go. ;)

I mean, I still think it’s clever. But that’s not the point of a cover. The cover is a piece of advertising.

Mistake #1 is important, BUT I always liked books most that you can't just put in one genre. So I get what you say from sales standpoint, but I am in the bad situation that I do not like genre books that follow just common genre tropes. Hm

I made similar mistakes too. I also switched the Genre a few times, which isn't very clever to build up a community. I still haven't found my genre but I'm working with pseudonymes to hide it 😁

Any chance on doing a video comparing Scrivener vs Novelcrafter? Without the AI features obviously. I know one is an actual app and one is access though a web browser. Pricing models are different as well. Would love to see a hardcore comparison on feature sets comparisons between the two.

I’ll add it to my long list. Although I’m not sure it’s a fair comparison given they are so different.

What do you think about using pseudonyms?

"Until you reach 10K/a month". I bust out laughing at that. $120 thousand a year? Judging from the background in the video, you have a ways to go. Am I right?

@@colours8846 You are absolutely right. Though most of the frugal ones aren't making six figure salaries.
