In this video we show you how to pose and photograph a 5 Month old baby safely for some adorable milestone 5 month baby photos. Many photographers find this age very challenging to photograph since 5 month old babies can't sit up on their own yet. If you've ever struggled photographing a 5 month old baby, be sure to watch the entire video so that you can have confidence photographing your next baby! We show EVERY pose behind the scenes of how we would typically photograph a five month old baby for a paying client.
You always want to ensure that you are only doing poses that are safe and that you have a spotter super close by! We give you lots of tips, tricks and hacks that you can apply to your own photography so that you will finally feel comfortable with babies of this age.

This is so satisfying!! And this baby is a real sport. I love taking photos (not a pro) but getting my daughter to stay still is a challenge. She knows when I'm taking pictures and she'll give me the cutest smiles but she start flopping her arms and it comes out blurry when I use portrait mode. I feel like the pics come out nicer on that mode.. I do use a toy or make silly sounds and use one of my hand as a distraction sometimes. I am dreaming of the day I can get some shots like these.. my baby girl is always on a mission lol

Hi Kim! Thanks for your comment! If you use manual mode and use a high enough shutter speed (at least twice the speed of you r lens focal length) you shouldn't get that blurriness if she's flapping your arms

I absolutely love this series of videos! I have a baby just about the same age as yours, and I've been using some of your advice and tips for the past few months to help me take some cute monthly photos! Will you be posting part two sometime soon? And also, will there be a video specifically for each month up to one year?

I'm so glad you're enjoying it and that you found the videos helpful! We weren't able to do a 5 month part two, unfortunately as my daughter got sick but we have videos on 4 months which you can do all of the same poses :) We did do a sitter session video which was for the 6 month milestone :) Since beyond this there aren't as many changes we will likely do one for 9 months and then a year but not monthly as there isn't that big of a difference from 6 months to 7 months. :)

Where did you get the white wood bucket? What is the size of the inside? Looking for my 5 month old son

I actually found that bucket at goodwill for a couple of dollars. It was a popcorn bucket that said "popcorn" on it and I painted it with white paint and distressed by sanding it. It's about 11" in diameter

the wrinkles in what? the floordrop? yes, I clone those out in photoshop

@@MyBigCamera thank you. I have a photo I took of my daughter,that has many wrinkles in the backdrop because it was a vinyl backdrop and I had no idea how to get rid of those. I don't even have photoshop yet, but I was wondering if there was a solution to getting them out instead of losing the picture.

@@TallMama321 It can be really difficult to get rid of the wrinkles without editing software but you can probably find a photo editor that can do it for you.
