5 Things Video Games Get Wrong About Cars! The long awaited sequel to 5 Gamer Misconceptions About Cars! GET READY GAMERS, as I sit you down, and teach you up...err, that sounds pretty bad out of context.. heck that probably sounds bad even with context...
Anyways, the things you've learned from games, whether intentionally or simply through just being exposed to them are wrong! Nos=Flames? More like NOS=uhhhh, boring timing setups, and uhhhh, fuel lines, and uhhhh, making sure the gaskets don't blow, and yeah purging process. Yeah that's way less exciting than BUTTON=FLAME.
Although you CAN make a button=flame. It's called 2-step or Anti-lag! (depending on if you us a Supercharger or Turbocharger or are NA).
I have a button I wired via a Lingenfelter 2-step to shoot flames out my exhaust cause hurr durr, 640WHP Supercharged Z06 go brrr. Check out the video here: • MY WEEBVETTE SHOOTS MA...

Thank you for #2... Cause so many games from 2010 and Prior refer to nitrous boosting as, "HIT THE TURBO BOOST!" or "ENGAGE TURBO!!" Like literally in NFS 2010, a bone stock Shelby Super Snake with a Supercharger...somehow still has a Turbo too?!?! Like wtf? My Coworkers still use the word "Turbo" like it also means "NOS"... Modern games don't mix them up as often, but literally a whole generation of Non-car people have grown up completely having turbochargers misrepresented to them...

haha I got people asked me which button on my steering is my nitrous button. I had to explain them that in LMP1 hybrid cars uses electric motor that gets up to 1000 hp combine. I told them its lot better since you can use braking regen to get those energy really easy.

It's never *fully* explained in HP2010. My personal theory is that "Turbo" is just a Racer nickname for a Nitrous-like system that uses the exhaust system of the car (somehow), that works somewhat like a solid-booster; it can't be shut off until it burns out completely

@@foczastafomka5502 Let me give you the smallest version I can muster: Nitrous oxide is injected into the cylinders on the intake stroke, this nitrous oxide, kept liquid under pressure, vaporizes and provides oxygen, which means that the combustion stroke will produce more power, it also cools the air inside the cylinder, allowing more air to be compressed without risking pre-combustion or "knocking" before the spark plug fires and ignites the air-fuel mixture as usual.

7:45 Nothing to do with system limitations. It's just purely a game design decision. Most races in games like Gran Turismo are short, maybe ten laps max, so if the tyres wore down at a realistic rate, you'd never wear them down enough to actually feel the loss in grip. Increasing the wear rate is done on purpose to make races more exciting.

Let me tell you a story: One day my friends and I were talking about choosing a potential rally car after we graduated from high school for us to build. We talk for a bit, until one of them told us to get a Civic. I agreed with him because fwd cars handles the dirt better but another friend asked him why a Civic. He told us that Civics have turbos in it so we don't need to spend money on turbos. Me and my friend look at each other and started laughing. My friend have no idea why we are laughing. We then explain to him that Civics don't have turbos. Then he started to argue with us. After a long while, my friend asked him do you know VTEC and he replied yes. Then we told him to explain what is VTEC. He simply said it with a straight face 'VTEC is a turbo'. We both laugh so hard it can be heard from other classes. We then actually explain to him what VTEC is then he blame it on Google cuz he read from an article on Google about VTEC. Both of us roasted him till we graduated high school and he still get roasted for it.😂

There are a few things that can happen. I work with engine management systems. 1 If N2O can't be activated at anytime its a bad system. Most racing applications will do a situational Nos where it activates when steering is close to 0 degrees and throttle is at wide open throttle. But N20 is also often used as a anti lag on street racing with engines that got a excessive big turbo. Where timing will be retarded for a short period and a lot of fuel with N2O is added to spool up the turbo really quick. This will cause a stable flame in the exhaust for a short period. Not just a bang. And on older cars with wet system nos they would run insanely rich to not cause harm or overheating issues which tended to dump a lot of fuel in the exhaust. And depending on the system this fuel would sometimes ignite when leaving the exhaust. Not often but sometimes. There isn't really a lot of sacrifice with a nos as long as the engine can take it mechanically and the ECU can handle it. Also like to add fun facts. NOS the company was really frustrated in the beginning when people called Nitrous oxide for NOS. Same as paper wipes companies where they took a company and used that as a name for the product.

Great video, although the part about exploding cars and no turbo lag is a bit off. GTA is pretty much the only video game where that happens, not counting other GTA-like games. I'm surprised you didn't mention how tuning and putting upgrade parts on your car doesn't magically make it better. More often than not, it just makes it less reliable and only slightly faster. All those 1500 Forza Horizon builds would run for maybe 1 mile before blowing up or bending the frame

On that last point, video games often have traction control on, which cuts power to the tires when they lose grip, making for smoother acceleration where you can just hold the gas down and the game will do it for you. But a lot of drag racing leagues don't allow those systems, so a touch to much power or throttle can cause wheelspin, which means a lack of grip, which can cause an easy spin out. So drag racing often requires lots of careful throttle control and application, same with race cars and accelerating off the corner.

Please read up on 2-step/antilag/backfires, the video explaination leaves alot to be desired. X-Step (x being a number, usually 2) is a system you can set up to have the engine held at a certain RPM for launching, think of it as different steps of a redline ladder. You Can add anti-lag to this by using ignition delay/Cut to control the step, causing fuel to combust in the exhaust spooling the turbo. Antilag is when you allow unburnt fuel to pass into the exhaust after lifting off throttle (going into braking zones or between shifts) which then spools the turbo. You Can do this by either delaying ignition, or cutting it entirely and relying on exhaust tempreture to ignite it. Backfire is just unburnt fuel going into the exhaust when getting off throttle, not intended for antilag. These are not interchangable, and there aren’t specifically different systems for superchargers/turbos.

6:02 some of these explanation is incorrect. you CAN SHOOT FLAMES WITHOUT TURBO, provided you have: 1. an engine running leaner or much rich, preferably much rich 2. catalytic delete or an aftermarket full-system exhaust 3. iridium sparkplug 4. aftermarket coils provided, though, none about backfiring is good IF your engine is running too lean. piston can crack this way and break seals. a "safer backfiring" is called muffler-blast which happens not inside the chamber but inside the header and through the muffler

With the last one, I do know that. I'm going to start driving soon but, I've played a simulator where you can feel everything. You can feel down gear, up a gear, acceleration, deacceleration, feel the bumps, and more. And decided to play with an F1 car. If you hit the gas too damn hard, you just lose grip and drive right into a wall. It's harder than you'd think from the perspective of playing a video game. I also drove a GR3 class racing car in the game and if you hit one bump and don't steer it correctly you just go right into a wall. I know that this is just a video game but even then it can be quite difficult. A straight line, if you don't have enough grip, you're not that experience, etc, can be quite challenging.

2-step isn't just for supercharged cars. It can be used with any NA or forced induction setup, and it's just a secondary rev limiter set lower than your main one used to launch the car. Turbocharged cars, for example, can use it to build boost. It's also helpful to launch the car without its full power to help it grip up.

I have only ever kicked the tail out once, and it was in my dad’s 1996 Jeep Cherokee on a dirt road. It was about a year-and-a-half ago, when my dad was teaching me how to drive. As we were making our way back to the house (and keep in mind, we were talking about my wondering what wheelspin was like in RWD cars), he told me to slow it down to nearly a standstill. Then, he said to floor it. It put it to the floor and spun both rear tires (a miracle considering the XJ Cherokee as far as I’m aware had open differentials). That was the most awesome and scary thing I’ve done in a car to date, and it has given me an appreciation for RWD cars in general.
