Defensive drills are always appreciated. Probably the hardest part of fighting games.

@@Chris_Fto be honest, I've already done my own training drills before your series, some for neutral, some for hit confirming situation on oki, some for shimmy on oki (with opponent delay tech throw, jumping forward, 2MK into DRC or not) etc. But your videos keep giving me ideas :). I'm very excited to see your training drills for specific characters as it can be difficult to pin point exactly what make a character dangerous or annoying to deal with (and I said that while I've already put all the cast in Master Rank). Keep the good work, your videos are amazing even for advanced players !

Re: Drill #5 at 03:29 , MC Mura also just released a vid today, suggesting that you hold the reversal button input to minimize the chance of the DR eating it. Do you have experience with this method vs. the input-mash, and if so, do you find one more reliable than the other? Sorry for being a pedant. The Devil is in the details :p
@Chris_F5 ай бұрын
Sharing ideas and tech is how we all improve! Thanks for adding the info about the button hold technique. I haven’t had much success with it but I main guile so that could be a part of it. I’ll do more testing and if I find it to be better I’ll include it in my next video!

Wait what's the purpose of the first drill? Allowing regular DR to go unchecked feels like you're just developing bad habits drilling against only 1 option, a semi uncommon 1 at that comparatively speaking, while you're opponent goes crazy with plus frames
@Chris_F5 ай бұрын
First drill is just a very simple way to teach yourself to react to the overhead motion. While I agree that stopping the DR is ideal, sometimes the risk isn’t worth pushing a button; for example, from close and at low health. Later on in the video (drill 4) I go over stopping DR with a button. At the end of the day drills are drills and won’t always simulate exactly what happens in a match. This is just my approach, we all have our own ways of training. Sorry if that came off the wrong way, I find it. hard to type out responses with the appropriate tone sometimes. Thx for the comment!
@AxeofdeathXP5 ай бұрын
@Chris_F I did like the concept of the other drills, while also noticing 4 touches on stopping actual DR's. Feels weird to me to just not stop the problem (DR in neutral) but I think I understand: taking it in chunks to GET to the point of stopping DR in general. Good video nonetheless; not trying to take that away from you :)

I think it's valuable to lab because checking drive rush is just not always practical for characters that have weaker buttons for last moment check purposes. A parry has faster startup than any attack button. It also isn't a bad choice if a PP could lead to more optimal positioning. Like with Jamie even if I can check the drive, I might opt for PP if near the corner so I can backthrow, because his side switch combos typically meter expensive. With cammy though, I'd prob just try to check still. Situational.

Why do we still say drive rush eats inputs when its just factuality not true, drive rush changes input timing.
@Chris_F5 ай бұрын
True but the end result is more or less the same: you don’t get a reversal.

What's the purpose of the neutral jumps in the recording?
@Chris_F5 ай бұрын
Just to make timing easier. You can omit them if you prefer

I legit practiced your last guide, picked up Cammy and sent her straight into masters. Easy to win with her buttons and frames. Hard to prevent losing without these fundamentals.

My reaction time is well over the two frames required for a perfect parry. Is there any drill you recommend to improve my precision?
@Chris_F5 ай бұрын
Just to clarify, nobody has 2F reaction time. You react to the attack, which is usually well over 18F for an overhead. The timing has to be within 2F but not the reaction. I think doing this drill plus the wakeup parry drill in my first video should be enough (for now) to improve your perfect parry timing
@csolisr5 ай бұрын
@@Chris_F The problem is not so much with knowing that I need to do a parry, it's with the exact timing window. More often than not, I end up either inputting it too early by a few frames and getting only the regular parry, or inputting it a few frames too late and eating the whole combo. The World Tour challenge of getting three perfect parries in a row took me almost an entire hour, including a trip to the lab just to practice the timing of the one move, and I only managed to pull it off by sheer luck. What do you recommend in that case?
@Chris_F5 ай бұрын
@csolisr take any character into training mode then: 1) record the dummy doing jump, land, then any attack you want to practice perfect parry against. I recommend Ken crouching medium kick to start. 2) set playback to repeat 3) practice perfect parry against it It most likely won’t be easy at first. Also, remember that pro players also miss their perfect parry timings in tournaments. The goal isn’t to be perfect, but to be better at it than you were yesterday. Good luck bro you got this! Always here if you have more questions
