$5 Musang King: Durian Price War in Singapore 2023

We came to the east to look for cheap and nice Mao Shan Wang(Musang King). Saw a facebook post on Louis Durian selling MSW at $8 a fruit and was so excited.
We came down to the shop and brought 4 MSW at SGD$8 each, tried 3 for $10 Kampong Durian and the cheapest $2 kampong durian. Then came their competitor selling MSW at $5 per fruit. Hence we brought 4 more MSW and went home with 12 durians in total.

Went to buy from Louis Durian bec of this video. The person serving me was rude and the durians were not very good. Despite paying for the better MSW which cost $18/kg, the taste makes me wonder if it is really MSW. They chose the durians for me in a rush and when i said I didnt want the one they chose they insult me by asking whether i have eaten MSW. It turns out the ones he chose was bad. I will not go back to this stupid place again. Besides, they ignore your enquires and pretend not to hear my feedback. Louis durian? More like Lousi durian.

First of all look out on KZbin to learn how a MSW look like, it characteristic, color and the sizes of the seed. Oh....always stowith the cheapest durian and end with MSW, if not it will taste like bananas 😁

On Thursday this week Louis Durian lifted the limit on the amount of MSW durians per piece you can purchase because supply increased by a lot. Now they’re selling MSW at 3pcs for $10, 1pc for $5, $8, $12 and $15. You might want to go back and try again. Louis durian also can help you pack in the box if you want. I got 4 pcs for those at $5 each, 1 for $8, and 1 for $12. Total $40 and I got about 1.28kg of MSW flesh after deducting the container weight. So it’s actually very worth it, works out to be just about $31/kg for the flesh and seeds without husk. For comparison famous durian stalls like ah seng are selling $45 per box of 560g of MSW, and that works out to be about $80/kg for the flesh and seeds without husk. Which is more than double the price. If you decide to go to Louis Durian again you should do so quickly though. The supply might suddenly drop and he might stop this offer. Would like to see how the 3pc for $10 MSW is like since I didn’t manage to buy it.

5 dollars how to make money? They are killing themselves. Btw don’t look down on white flesh durian. Some are even tastier than musang king. If you like bitter, try Capri if you get a chance. White but with nice creamy with a solid bitter after taste

@@cek8889 I own a durian farm so I know how much they buy from us. 1 bag of fertilizer is already about 80SGD. U need tonnes of it for a commercial farm. Other cost like workers and the amount of spoilt durians each harvest etc not calculated yet. 50-60% will be spoilt with worms if you have organic farms like mine. He is selling to u guys at below cost price. Grab it while the offer is still available. I suggest u buy a farm then talk

I was keen to check the Marine Parade Central market out after watching your video. I went to both Luis durian and durian express. I found the staff at Luis durian very rude. The elderly gentleman in particular, treated the customer with contempt. When a kampung durian priced at $5 each was open and it was not ripe, instead of feeling sorry to the customer, he blamed the customer for picking the larger durian. He should have been able to tell it was not ripe prior to opening it if he was any good at durian. What a hypocrite when he was selling the largest MSW at $18/kg and smaller ones at $8 or $12 a piece. I found the staff at durian express were more gentleman-like, definitely won my trust, unlike the other gang at Luis. For my money, I would only be going to the Durian express (the guys in green shirt) in the future. I would stay far away from the guys in tattoos. I hope you would do too. When we buy durian, we should buy from the people whom you can trust. We can do with one less durian vendor at Marine Parade Central market.

It’s legit D197. The star shape at the bottom and the look of the arils are certainly like that of D197. Just visited there earlier. Each piece is very small though. But it’s actually still very worth it. With $40 I got about 1.28kg of MSW flesh. And it tastes pretty good as well.

Need a few bloggers or U-tubers in Sinapore, to buy a few durians, weigh each of the whole fruit in grams using electronic weighting machine. Label it MK, XO etc etc. After eating weigh the husk & each of each fruit to calculate the flesh net weight in grams & also weight in % relative to its intial gross weight.😂😂😂
