Weathertech floor mats are well worth the expense. Perfect fit.
@TC1Z2L32 ай бұрын
The Subaru all-weather floor mats are junk now. I've been using the factory rubber mats on multiple Subarus ever since I had a 99 2.5RS and they were great. The coverage on the new ones is severely limited and as shown in this video, all the dust, dirt, and debris collects all around them, especially up and behind the pedals. They used to be nice and thick and heavy with deep grooves to catch debris. Now they are quite thin and flimsy. They are very easy to remove and clean but TuxMat and / or Weather Tech mats give you way more complete coverage and actually keep your carpets clean.
@cams34252 ай бұрын
I agree with the new Subaru all weather floor mats being junk. The passenger side front mat never stays put and thus is useless. The ones in the back as well as the drivers side allow for too much stuff to get past them. To be honest, have not tried weather tech or any other mat, but something has to be better than these.
@mandar662 ай бұрын
I experienced this with my 2015 impreza, so I went with TuxMats for my 2020 outback. I LOVE the way they cover up the sides way higher and since they're not just pure rubber, they're not prone to warping or cracking. I have much cleaner carpets than I did with the subaru mats. The cargo mat and seat back protectors I still think the OEM are best because of fit. I got the wheel covers and those only work with the OEM.
@mandar662 ай бұрын
@Django44 I just got tuxmats for my outback and the driver's side goes up as high as it can because of the dash.
@TC1Z2L32 ай бұрын
@@mandar66 Me too. I have the Tux Mats all throughout the front and rear seats. The protection is far superior to the OEM rubber and I really like the look. The fit is not 1000% perfect, especially in the back but with all the velcro and clips they give you, it's fairly seamless to tie it all in. The OEM mats in the rear cargo area are great. I've never seen the offerings from TuxMat or WT back there but I have all the OEM stuff: seat back protectors, wheel well covers, and cargo mat and have zero issues with any of them.

I recommend the Subaru Pet Rear Door Protectors as well. We have them and love how the thick, semi-rigid panels protect the doors from scratches by our dogs and also prevent them from accidently activating the windows or door lock.
@njkay003318 күн бұрын
Considering these. Easy to install? Do you leave them on all the time or are they easy enough to put on only when needed
@PeterHuettl-w2p18 күн бұрын
@ they are pretty easy to install and remove. You just have to pay attention to both tabs going into window between lower seal and glass as you insert them. We only put them on when we are planning to travel with the dogs as they are rigid but hang loose at bottom so get in the way a bit if I want to put something in the rear door storage bins.

My 2016 has had weathertech floor liners, Rally Armor mud flaps and factory wind deflectors from day one. The BEST accessorie is an $8.00 blue poly tarp that lives in the cargo area and gets spread out before every load. It's long enough to unfurl over the rear bumper so ski pants don't get dirty. The carpets and cargo area still look factory fresh.

What I've done so far to make my '21 Outback Touring XT just a little bit better and more livable on a daily basis: 1.) Autostop Eliminator. 2.) Neatly wrapped the Driver Focus sensor in matte vinyl. The flashing red sensor was driving me absolutely bonkers at night. 3.) A cheap, fake carbon fiber cover for the piano black around the shifter from Amazon, painted matte black. 4.) Weathertech liners. 5.) Just arrived, but not installed- rear sway bar reinforcements and a CVT anti-wobble insert from Anderson Design Fabrication. Will be tackling those this weekend. 6.) Replaced the trash Yokohamas with a set of Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3s. These mods have taken a very good car and made it even better. Next up with be an STI flexible front strut tower brace and MAYBE a Perrin pitch stop mount.

Hey man nice vid - I own a 19' Forester Touring and bought it certified from dealer, came with weathertech lines front, rear and cargo, net, cargo cover for trunk area, recently i bought the subaru OEM sunshade for a perfect fit and the aero roof rack bars. my next upgrade will probably be the hitch with a nice bike rack for me and my fiance. My OEM radio went back and subaru replaced it with only $100 deductible, saving us over $1500 in parts and labor. Recently did the 60k mile service on it and the difference is day and night. I service it every 4-5k and plan on keeping it for a long time. my 3rd Subaru overall and always a fan of the K&N air filters / oil filters too, better response time for highway merging. The ride quality was significantly improved for the newer platform from the 2018 version foresters. Going to eventually buy Michelin crossclimate 2's in the next few months. Its cool to see younger (20s-30s) drivers owning Subarus. Hopefully it keeps us safe on the road and last us a long time. Have owned it for a total of 34,000 miles so far.

Both my 2016 Legacy and my 2023 Ascent were ordered by the dealer from the factory with the All Weather floor mats (Or they were part of a "Popular Package") as they are on the window sticker. The carpet mats are under a bed never having been used. When I lived in Illinois I ended up getting Weathertech floor liners for the Legacy because I found the All Weather mats inadequate during the winter. I had 3 kids in back, and the uncovered carpet on the tunnel would get crusty from road salt brough in on shoes which was not the case with one piece WeatherTech mat covering the whole floor. It also did a better job for the driver going up on the left foot rest and underneath the accelerator pedal. The all weather are fine for my Ascent as I rarely drive in snow. I wish the Ascent just included the trailer hitch from the factory as standard - I was considering it just to have it until I learned what the dealer would charge to install it. I tried to see if it was something I could do, but removing the bumper cover on a brand new vehicle was not something I wanted to do. I only got the rear seat protectors for the back of the third row in the Ascent - I don't think they look that good and would not want them visible on the back of the captains chairs. It's fine when they are in the cargo area. They weren't mentioned but getting cross bars and a Thule cargo box are nice to have with the Ascent so you can hold 6 or 7 people and their luggage. I also covered the cross bars with cut foam pool noodles and moved a king size metal head board. I also got an aftermarket cargo net on Amazon which was 1/2 the price and seems as good as the Subaru net.

Weather Tech's new floor mats are WAY better than anything Subaru offers. Use velcro for the seat back protectors. Those straps look ridiculous. The "studs"needed to hook up the cargo net aren't normally installed. Unless you have the dealer install them, you'll have to drill holes in your car. And something he didn't cover are the splash guards or mud flaps. Forget the ones Subaru offers. They're too short. Everything just gets flung underneath them. Again, Weather Tech is better.

I bought a 2024 Legacy. They sold me a trailer hitch but had to return my money. They said Subaru does not offer a hitch for the legacy.

Oh, that’s odd! You’d think a dealer would know it’s not set up for towing. I can see people using it to mount a bike rack but technically it’s not set up for towing anything.
@robertthomas3113Ай бұрын
@@alexpmo I am sorry, but are you telling me that a Legacy cannot be used for towing. That was a specific requirement when I bought this car. Before this I had a Ford Focus that I towed with and kept it for 220,000 miles.

I was thinking about, when I buy my new Subaru, I would go from the dealership to the Diamond coat store and an undercoat place (Krown). Any comments/recommendations?

Hi Alex, I have a Forester (picked up 11/2023) and I only recently received my Bike Rack and had everything installed. ATM I am leaving it on the car, but reversing causes a permanent alarm. Do you have a suggested to mute the reverse alarm?

Off topic, but here goes. I have a '24 Subaru Crosstrek Sport and began having issues with the front window auto-return not working. My dealer said the sensor in the door panel is quite sensitive and that it was my aftermarket window tinting causing the issue. This ever happen to you, Alex?
@alexpmoАй бұрын
Haven't heard of the window tinting interfering. I've had aftermarket tint on mine going on two years now and haven't had any issues with it. The sensor can also be reset by rolling the window down and then rolling it back up. But when you roll it back up, continue holding the switch up for 4-5 seconds. That should reset it!

Not crazy about towing with a CVT transmission.

Most people use this hitch for the bike racks but you can tow with them. With limitations of course. Anywhere from 1500-3500 lbs towing capabilities depending on the model and engine.

@@alexpmo unfortunately the dealership can't install the 7pin hitch wiring for the Forrester Wilderness, so you can't use the full towing capacity without aftermarket addon
@Wrang152 ай бұрын
Once your over 1k per Subaru you have to use a trailer with brakes. Its a Pain to install a 7 pin and stick brakes on some trailers. My state law is trailers over 3k have to have brakes, so sub 3k gvw trailers are sold without brakes.

I just bought a 2022 Outback limited XT and although generally I love it I’m having a problem with the infotainment system and I’m reading that many people are having the same problem. The audio will sometimes make a really loud bass noise (I mean like I thought something had exploded near me) and then the sound just stops and there is no audio (inducing warning chimes) the only way to get it back is to shut the car off for 10-15 minutes (just turning the screen off doesn’t work) any ideas about what to do for that problem

Yes! Just have to put it in sleep mode first. On the key fob, just click the lock and double click unlock button at the same time. Then to wake it back up just click any button
