Can you do video of the best dive sites around the world, that every diver new and old have to visit before they die?

First bits in order that I bought: mask & snorkel, fins, wetsuit, bcd, regs, computer.

F.Gomm Good place to start is what’s close to home and not blow your budget. Cozumel, Bonaire, and Curaçao are great spots and won’t cost a fortune. My wish list includes the Red Sea and Bikini Atoll.

All 5 in 1 go. I just realized I did the recommended thing. I got a dsmb but not a reel yet. My dsmb is 2,20m and has a 5 meter rope. So far no problems there yet.

First batch was mask and fins (useful already from pool training). Second batch was wetsuit and computer (needed them for chilly open water training). Third batch was torch, DSMB ad reel (needed for actual diving).

I always recommend carrying a whistle. Cheap, small and really handy if you‘re lost on the surface and need to catch attention.

Dive shoes are underrated in my opinion. It's great to have dive shoes to walk out on rocky "beaches" or short hike outs to hidden snorkel spots

I prefer them just for keeping my feet temperature regulated and in the fins I have it’s a requirement, that or blisters.

Im currently in the process of building a shopping list for my first full dive kit. I really like the idea of air integration, having all the information in one place using a watch style dive computer seems like a very tidy & user friendly system. My question is, can a computer like the teric or d5 with ai take the place of a console/gauge setup? Not only would it be a super streamline setup by getting rid of gauges & a console, it would also offset the price of buying an ai pod by not having to purchase gauges/console. Personally, id love to have a computer/ai pod setup without gauges for compass, depth, spd etc. It seems pointless to have all that extra hardware for the equivalent of 2-3 functions on a computer

Hi, I highly recommend air integration and have moved to using it instead of gauges now for single tank or side mount diving. Exactly as you say, it is more streamlined, cost effective when you do not buy gauges and easier to pack for a travel setup. I personally use the teric for all my diving from simple single tank to multi tank, Tec diving and very highly recommend it however have also used the Suunto d4i and Suunto d6i. The Suunto que integration is not as good as the Shearwater.

Being a cold water drysuit diver and instructor I don't agree that fins should be anywhere on this list. Maybe if you are only ever going to dive in a wetsuit but there are lots of places that a drysuit is the better option. The reason I say that is that depending on which drysuit you rent or buy the boots will be different sized and require different sized fins. If you are renting a drysuit the shop will have fins that will fit. Also like buying a BCD (or backplate and wing) I suggest renting a few different styles to find what works best for your needs. There is nothing worse than having to buy equipment twice because of an issue.

I use the same fins whether diving in a wet suit or a dry suit. If ever I rented a dry suit that my fins wouldn't fit I could rent fins, but having my own for 99% of the diving I do works for me.
@DiveBC5 жыл бұрын
@@seikibrian8641 and that's can work if the drysuit has slim style boots or neoprene style boots. I know from my experience that my different drysuits have different sized (out side mainly width) boots. At our shop some of our drysuits have built in boots of various different widths for the same side foot. And many will end up using a rock boot. Our wetsuits use a 5mm neoprene booty and requires a size smaller fin for the same foot size. I have also see many people buy fins for wetsuit diving or even with one drysuit and then need to buy new fins to fit a new drysuit. (i currently have a couple different sizes of fins for my different drysuits)
@KimonFrousios5 жыл бұрын
Fins fit a range of shoe sizes. Unless your size is right on the upper limit of a size bracket, you'll be fine owning your fins before knowing what suit you'll use. Having a drysuit with much bigger boots than your foot is a terrible idea for buoyancy balance anyway.
@seikibrian86415 жыл бұрын
@@KimonFrousios "Having a drysuit with much bigger boots than your foot is a terrible idea for buoyancy balance anyway." I don't think that's what he was saying; I think he was talking about different types of boots. For example, a size 11 7mm neoprene boot is much smaller *on the outside* than a size 11 hard-leather rock boot. They're the same size on the inside, where your foot goes, but not on the outside, where it goes into the fin pocket.
@DiveBC5 жыл бұрын
@@KimonFrousios I understand this. And I'm not talking about boots that are to big for your feet. I'm talking about the different types of boots on different drysuit being different sizes. Say one size 41 rock boot might be 10cm wide vs one might be 12 +cm wide. It's not about how long the foot pocket is. It's about how wide it is. If you take a finn that is the correct size for a boot that is 12 cm wide its going to have a lot of play in the sideways motion on a boot that is 10cm wide. It won't make that much of a difference if you are only flutter kicking but if you start frog kicking the fin can start to move sideways on your foot. Are you going to get threw the water... Yes... Is it going to be the proper fit for the boot on that drysuit... No... You brought up buoyancy. This is another reason not to buy fins right out of the gate. Some drysuit boots are more buoyant than others. My older whites shit has 7mm neoprene and rubber rock boots built in that are super wide, tall and buoyant though the inside of the boot is just the right size for my foot. They require a heavier fin and an extra large foot pocket on the fin. My new dui with the tech boots are 3mm neoprene and have just a slim sole and to cap. They are much less buoyant and 3-4cm narrower. I still use a jetfin for my technical diving but I could get away with a lighter fin. And I need a much smaller foot pocket to keep the fin from shifting around. On both of these suits the foot pocket length of the fin doesn't play a roll in the over all fitment. The hight of the older whites suits boots caused a problem with finding fins that fit. And the dui boots are more like a wetsuit boot. And yes I am talking about my experience. But as a drysuit instructor I see this all the time. There are new drysuit with bigger outer boots for the foot size than my older whites boots and the same fins just do not work.
