Expansion of Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, Zambia is scheduled to be complete and opened in 2021. Terminal 2 was supposed to be operational in 2019 but postponed. There is also a new airport under construction in the Copperbelt Province of Zambia in the city of Ndola to replace the existing one, which started life as a military base but was converted to civilian use.

One little wrinkle in the reporting is the lack of details relative to FBO licenses for which lines including hangar square measures, (if any); the inventory measures for fueling capacity both as for originating flights and on-the-way-through traffic not to forget the huge need for potable water; and what potential square footage exists for new retail and service businesses?Add to this what might be the available vehicle parking potential? Then how much growth space around each airport is there for support services? Airports need to breath and be flexible to survive. A few romantic buildings and jet-ways, taxi aprons, and one great long strip is only the start.

For the ones on the African continent, it is nothing but capital flight taking place. The presidents of these African countries and those in leadership positions think they are actually moving the country forward, but thanks to their lack of understanding of basic economic principles, they are not. And that is why you will likely see such white elephant, shiny structures but people are still grounded in abject poverty. Leaders with developed brain would first conceive of such structures (nothing wrong with that). Then they ill recognize that a lot of glasses would be consumed, so they will first establis things in place to make the glasses. They would understand that a lot of concrete and cement would be required, they will then make sure those are produced in the country. Next, they will realize that mass movement of those goods and service would be implicit. Therefore, transportation projects are embarked on. Note that so far close to a million jobs have been produced and the mega airports are not yet embarked on. At this point, steel industry would have been established. If the country is not blessed with iron ore, then foundries would have been scattered all over the country producing most of the types of metals needed in the country. Note that the construction of the surface transportation network is all done by national companies, perhaps with little consultation with outside experts; and you could not have done all these without having planned the entire country. Do not forget ceramic industry, yes, it is necessary because you do not plan on importing every urinal, commode, and bathroom/toilet peripherals from foreign countries. Your brain understands economics so you understand that your strength can only come from home. So, by the time you get to your mega airports, those local engineers that have built bus terminals, railway terminals, your countries roads and bridges become the assembly of experts who will build them. Yes, your cranes and construction equipment manufacturers that also bolster the steel industry get placed in a vital position. Note that employment is extremely high at this stage of development and standard of living has risen considerably. That is how it is done. This is how you build a sound economy. Your objective is to build it yourself with material and labor sourced locally, with minimal or zero consultation. What all the sub-Saharan African countries are doing is engaging in capital flight. Developed brains make developmental plans and strategies, step one to the next, and next. Want more? Angola, Ghana, and Nigeria (all foreign-created countries) with crude oil deposits. Ask their labor ministries how many petroleum engineers are being graduated each year. Then ask them how many of the foreign workers do they plan to replace as the next batch of graduates come out. You will not get an answer. That is how you know that all brains are not equal.

Rwanda building a 14million passenger capacity airport yearly with a small population while Nigeria is giving us something to complain about. Nigeria have the capacity to be the real giant of Africa but poor leadership is killing us as a nation. No ambition no vision.
@shangothunder10553 жыл бұрын
Wrong Rwanda has 1 airline an international airport with one more on the way. Nigeria is a regional giant with multiple airlines about 30 airports with 4 being international and multiple new ones under contruction as we speak. Nigeria is a "middle income developing country" while Rwanda is a "low income least developed nation". Nigeria has both a superior GDP and gdp PER CAPITA over Rwanda. Nigeria also possesses far more successful individuals, businesses, industries, and companies. Nigeria has been gradually building all her wealth, infrastructure for awhile now. Even more like mega projects are being built like Eko(African Dubai), Centenary City, Imperial international Business City, Ayimba Economic City, Orange Island, and Greater Port Harcourt City. Other projects such as homes, buildings, hospitals, roads, dams, powerplants, and rails are being completed every year. Nigeria will be in the top 10 largest economies come 2050-60. Nigeria has one of the fastest growing middle classes in the developing world. GOD BLESS NIGERIA home to the richest and most influential Black Man Aliko Dagote, and the most Independent, Wealthy, Progressive, Industrious, and cultured Black People in the world. Nigeria's Rich are 99% Black unlike the other African countries who's wealthy are primarily White Colonist and Asian immigrants. All Nigerian businesses are native owned and expansive all over Africa. Nigeria is so far ahead of Rwanda it isn't funny so get out of here with your B.$.
