They never worked anyway. We used to use them when we had kids...there's only a small number of frequencies you can use, and everybody else uses them also. Other kids go on your frequency and scream at you for fun or make it almost impossible to contact your kids (and others now know where your kids are if they say). That was always our experiences years ago.

@shadycnetwork I know, the one I bought was $40 and it helped in some area but not at the inside cabin, so i returned it. On the next trip, I didn't bother getting one.

I don't think the countless over-sized electric scooters blocking the hallways is a "Controversy".... it's purely SAFETY. Imagine how difficult it would be to navigate a smoke-filled hallway littered with multiple scooters that weigh hundreds of pounds each!!

@@ItalianStallion9790 you are right.but i left my sick husband behind to have a break from looking afterhim.he Was with a care person.i had to write to him comfort Mails. At least two aday.he felt better i had a peace of mind.i took my daughter who is a stroke surviver to full Fill her dream.some people have different reasons my dear. But in your facts you are right.but it was Our only connection to the family.i hD to please two people..

Regarding the ammo.. just took a multi island cruise and there were metal detectors in the actual port for embarkation and then on board when we stopped in ports of call.. so how this was “missed” is …

Me and my dad use walkie talkies to communicate on ship on Carnival. I don’t understand why they would be banned as long as you don’t end up on the staff channels.

Portable toilets maybe ( there is lot people like to use their own toilets when travel) No one knows till some try once.

Walkie talkies?? Nooooo!!! Why? We are repeat crusie people (Royal is our preferred line now), the walkies are our go to! I can’t image not finding our family members while on the ship without them! 2001 was our first cruise together as a married couple, but as a kid I cruised to Italy with my parents when Dad was Navy transferred to Naples.

NCL banned them to force us to use thier app... That doesn't work lol. As soon as they added messaging to it, they banned them money grab It costs $10 for the usage.

Walkie-talkies have been listed for a long time, but there were many children with them Ovation Of The Seas a few weeks ago. They were all discrete and didn't appear to be annoying anyone.

NCL banned them as soon as they introduced the messaging portion of thier app. It doesn't work well and to even see a message, you have to restart the app, sign into it. It's a mess. SMH. Forced us to use an app that doesn't work, lol. Edited to add... Its a money grab. The messenger portion is $10 per person. 🙄😬

Carnival was $5 per person my last cruise, and it seemed to work very well. I found the Royal app/messenger I had to restart and reconnect to constantly all day long. I wouldn't get messages for hours, and I would miss out on doing something with my cruise crew we hadn't pre-planned.

No, NCL wants to force you to buy the messenger they have for $10 per person for the cruise. The same week they introduced it, they banned them. 😬

When i went on a cruise as a kid my dad told me to carry a walkie talkie and some how two boys were on our channel and saying "daddy help us" so when dad found me he said to change it to another channel
