Camelthorn is one of my favourite wood species to turn. I Some of my most beautiful turnings are from camelthorn! My neighbor has to game ranches up north in South Africa where there are lots of camelthorn. He brings me some wood whenever I need it!

I tried turning black palm. Had to get it above 3000 RPMs for any success...not sure how many pieces it exploded into... Only found a couple

Camel thorn is the best wood for barbecuing hold its coals and heat very consistently

You know your woods matey so I subscribed. I mainly turn wood including pens and fountain pens. I have some black palm (coconut) and have never used it and I don't think I will. The dark bits in it are harder and dense and the lighter is soft. I wonder if it can be stabilised with resin but that's another subject lol. Look forward to seeing more from you. All the best

i seen someone do a lidded bowl out of blk palm that came out amazing.but hard woods tend to turn well.thanks for becoming part of the team!

Let's not forget Red Bud and Hawthorne. I've tried to work with both of these and ended up relegating them ALL to my burn pile! The stuff is HARD!!!

haven't done much bending.but didn't mind bubinga a time I used it in a nightstand box. nice to here from you as usual. &still want to be able to see some of these guitars!

So if you don’t like it don’t use it. I’ve done lots with Pau Ferro, never had a problem.

you bet.but i have noticed the word Pau Ferro gets used for multiple woods.so its possible they are of a different genus.thats also why i mentioned latin name.thanks for the comment!
