🔥 There’s one skill that separates great IT Project Managers from everyone else-project tailoring. Most project managers get stuck trying to learn every new tool and process out there. They dive deep into theories but still struggle to deliver projects on time and within budget. It’s frustrating. The truth is, great project managers don’t try to do it all-they focus on tailoring simple processes and tools that work best for their team and projects. That’s what creates transparency, predictability, and results. But here’s the thing-tailoring isn’t just guessing what might work. It’s about knowing three critical components: 1) Understanding project management on a deeper level. 2) Knowing exactly what to tailor. 3) Applying it effectively in real companies with real people. That’s why I created the Professional Development Plan for IT Project Managers-to help you master project tailoring and finally become the project manager who delivers every time, no matter the challenge. ✅ Click the link below to get your development plan now and take the next step toward mastering project management. itpmschool.com/get-plan?

A great video to add to your existing library is dealing with multiple projects. I've personally had 2 big programs and 3 smaller projects. A former colleague currently has 12 under their belt.

Wow, that's a lot to manage. As a project manager, I had once 7 projects in parallel.

On your graph on 4:18 you forgot something important, meetings, you only have 1.5 hrs of meetings when that is very unrealistic. The reason as a PM I need to work until midnight after I get home is that I have an average of 5hrs daily meetings and the rest of the day is to follow up on minutes, action items and "big task" work if I have a chance. Otherwise time is burned on replying to emails.

That's true. You probably will have more meetings. But 5+ hour of meetings every day means there's something broken in the approach. I can guess that you also have to collect requirements and act as a business analyst. OR you don't delegate enough responsibilities. Which one is true for you?

Also to point 2 - you need to assess whether a task should be delegated to someone else or not. No use taking on someone else's work

That's a great point. My motto is "Delegate everything, then decide how to contribute in the best possible way."
