Leila, I'm awe-struck by the quality level of your video tutorials. You have a deep sense of teaching. I've produced some internal tutorials at the company I work for and I can appreciate the amount of efforts it requires. Your attention to details is truly impressive. There's not a single word out of scope, no repetition, neat examples and your speech sounds absolutely natural (with a discrete and classy touch of charm on top). Are you doing all this by yourself our do you get the help of a team?

Another get tool in OneNote for taking minutes is the audio recording function...With the permission of the meeting attendees you can record the meeting and type notes at the same time. When you are finish the recording play links are created that correspond to the notes your typed. This allows you to skip to a specific part of the recording regarding the note you made, to hear what was discussed. I love it.

I am a subscriber for some time now, it helps me a lot in Excel, Powerpoint and it made me a believer in OneNote in a previous video when Leila showed how she uses it, the only thing I honestly don't understand is why this valuable channel has only half a million subscribers ?! it is a hidden gem, thanks Leila for all your help

A powerful tool no one talks about is OneNote's ability to index audio. In a meeting or presentation, you can click Insert and then record. OneNote will record and index the presentation. If you take notes you can indicated the spoken phrase and then later do a search for that phrase and the recording will go right to it.

I use OneNote for managing thing at work and also keep notes regarding my stuff. I have locked the stuff notes since it is personal information. Really like it. I have noticed that you go to the lock icon each time when actually all you have to do is press 'enter' key and type in the password. That easy.

Leila, I used OneNote as a way to share project files with my team who were spread across the US, (we managed over 150 locations of our companies real estate and office space design projects for a large engineering and architectural firm). We placed the OneNote file on a SharePoint site and set up each office design project with a Notebook template in OneNote and set up templates sections and pages which were laid out the same for each project. This allowed everyone to have access to the most current information on the project and know where it is located (if the team members uploaded it of course). It is a very powerful tool for keeping everything organized, and even expandable to multiple people using other Microsoft applications. Thanks for all of your learning videos they are very clear and informative.

I use an alternate method to distribute meeting notes. (I meet with many teams and don't want to manage permissions to my OneNote.) Instead, I take notes as Leila describes. To send, in OneNote select File --> Send --> Email page. I delete the link to my OneNote page that is at the top of the message as a default and send the rest! (I also the link and dial-in details for the original meeting, which appear as default). So easy!

I have used it since its intro and much of the last 10+ years of my life is documented in those notebooks but it is always great to hear another users view and application. If you want to save the full web page, just save the page from the browser as html only or full web page. If you want to preserve the formatting, get an extension like 'Single File' which will save the whole web page as a single file and preserve the formatting.

OneNote is just awesome to use and almost on par with excel regarding usefulness and value. Over the period I've been using Onenote i kept wondering why the password protect function was absent, or so I thought. I didn't realize that sections could be password protected and so I'm once again grateful for this video for highlighting that. Pity that the password protect function couldn't be standardizing across Microsoft programs though. that really would have been even more awesome. Excellent content, as usual, thank you.

Hi Leila, You haven’t made a OneNote video in almost a year, and we still need your help. On your last OneNote video, you have a couple of requests from JimRegney, Reinhold Auer and now me. Please make a video where you upload a pdf book of at least 100 pages to OneNote and set as background image to allow annotations and search. Please cover the new OneNote app Microsoft will be launching soon. I recently have had to upload a 100 page pdf of federal laws and procedures and I was not able to set as background and when I right clicked on the image it, I did not find picture on the drop down list. Also, the search function was not working which was a problem when navigating a large document. Hence I’m thinking perhaps “Hyperlink your notes” to help navigate the document? Also, we’re using Microsoft Teams a lot for meetings but we still need meeting notes, will “Meeting minutes in outlook” work if it’s a “Teams” meeting?

Thursdays With Leila and a cup of hot coffee (5:15AM - Maryland) I use OneNote frequently … and yet I still picked up 2 tips that I was not aware were part of the OneNote arsenal, i.e. 1) linking, and 2) meeting note format (which I do use … but in a different manner ... I think I will be changing). A small epiphany occurred to me during the presentation … create a Notebook for Leila's work. Embarrassingly, it had not occurred to me before now. I LOVE her work (both KZbin and her Courses) but frequently I cannot find my way back to a point made, or a suggested technique and/or approach. I often feel like I am getting a drink of water with a firehose … so much excellent material but much of it does not apply to me (yet). I lack complete fluency (and recall) so I often get lost (frustrated … annoyed … aggravated) when I cannot quickly find my way back to a point made weeks/months/years earlier. Experience has taught me that my first idea is never my best idea. So despite having several ideas swirling around my head right now as to format and content of the Notebook, I need to let them 'brew' a bit longer. Again … thank you Leila …
@LeilaGharani4 жыл бұрын
Happy Thursday. I had my cup of coffee a little later 😊. I fully understand what you mean. It happens to me all the time when I learn a new topic - whether it's from a book or an online course. What I found works best for me is to use tags or keywords for each lecture. Inside my courses, I provide the whole course outline with lecture names in an Excel file. You can use that and add a column with keywords for topics you think you might need to lookup later. You an combine the tabs from the different courses to one Excel file and then lookup a keyword by searching through all the different courses at once. Since I've started with this technique it's gotten a lot easier to find stuff. I use it for books too.

Unfortunately, the OneNote clipper extension still has some serious privacy issues as it requires the right to read and change data "on all websites" to be enabled or it doesn't work. If you set the extension to read/change data "on-click" or on "specific sites" it enters in a loop of asking to log into your account but never connecting. I don't see any reasons why the extension must have that level of access. I sent a note to both Google and Microsoft support teams, but so far nothing has changed.
