One short paranormal tale I can share happened about two years ago. I was coming home one night after running some errands and had just pulled onto my street. As my truck's headlights swung over the road I saw what looked like my neighbor's Golden Retriever running across the street. In his younger years this dog, Luke, was infamous for being an escape artist. Every chance he got he would sneak out of his backyard and roam around the neighborhood. After bringing the truck to a stop in my driveway, I got out and started calling his name in an attempt to get his attention in order to take him home, but there was no sign of him. After about 30 minutes I finally gave up and went inside the house to ask my parents to call our neighbors to let them know that Luke had gotten out. That's when I was told by them that was impossible, as Luke had been put down only a few days prior due to failing health.

Similar experience: we found out that one of our cats died (unknown reasons, we believe our neighbour poisoned it) about three days later one of my aunts bend down to see the same cat under a chair. She knew the cat was dead and scream, stood up and when she looked back down it was gone.

My mom actually had a similar experience to the rocking chair story! my mom and dad used to work in a elderly home and were sometimes allowed to take home furniture that the deceased had owned. Well one day an old man my dad helped cared for died and so he was allowed to take home the chair the man owned. Later that night my mom woke up to go to the bathroom, and once she was done she made her way back to the room she shared with my dad. However on the way there my mom noticed the chair rocking back and forth and got freaked out and walked past it back to her bedroom. When my mom told me this story she said she believed it was just the old man sitting in his chair for the last time.
@maubrey20953 жыл бұрын
We actually have a rocking chair rn. It sometimes moves on its own and we don't mind despite many people being freaked out. Even if there are ghosts here, we'd prefer them over robbers since we were robbed thrice.

One thing I came to respect through my studies in forensic anthropology is thecrime scene cleaner's job. Whether a death is by suicide, homicide or natural causes, the scene of a death is heavily contaminated with potential pathogens. Never mind the fluids and tissue sometimes left behind once the remains have been removed. My professors all preferred Tiger Balm to Vicks Vaporub to help (or at least try to help) mediate the odour of decomp. My family and friends sometimes ask me questions about death and decomp, but there was one occasion in which I would have gladly deleted all the knowledge in my head. Four years ago my estranged mother passed away in her apartment in a high floor of an apartment building in the intense heat of June. She was not discovered until around one week later. I am grateful that my knowledge of what became of her remains is not easily imagines by my relatives. They don't need that information or that image. Great job relating these stories, Matthew! You certainly do a terrific job of adding weight to your words that leave a powerful impression behind. Creepy, but awesome!

My scary story: I lived in disabled/elderly housing as I’m disabled. I’d get mail from the previous tenant, I believe her name was Vivian. I assumed she was of an older generation as that name is not that common nowadays. This was later confirmed by my neighbors. Idk if Vivian passed away there or at a nursing facility. I nvr felt comfortable in the living room and my rabbit didn’t like it there either. We’d spend most of our time there in the bedroom. One day or night, I felt the weight of someone sitting on the side of the bed right next to where I was laying I could see the impression of their butt and everything. I think Vivian was still stuck between worlds and was going thru her usual routine. At the time I was not freaked out or had a bad feeling or anything. When I think back about it, it does freak me out, especially as I wonder if Vivian laid down-which would have been on top of me. I accidentally told my nephew this story when he was around 6-7 and freaked him out. Luckily like 10 yrs later he doesn’t remember it.

My mother who isn't in to the paranormal or anything had 2 of the weirdest "ghost" encounters I've ever heard of, both times she got up in the night to use the bathroom only to cross paths with herself coming the other way. She said other than the initial jump she didn't feel afraid, she says it's hard to describe but it's not a solid body but not transparent either more like an image being played on a screen like the old cine camera films. There was a gap of just over 10 years between both incidents, myself and my siblings didn't know about the first time untill after the second time, she only told my dad the 1st occasion and he just insisted it was a nightmare. Funny thing is they don't seem to mean anything both times the image looked just like she did at the time age wise and showed no sign of seeing my mum or trying to interact.
