i remember once when my sister was 4, we were going on vacation and we were packing the car and getting ready to leave. i don't remember the exact details but i think this is how it happened. we were still packing the car and my mom was outside packing and my dad was inside. then my dad saw a child run past him that looked like my sister, and then he went to chase her and began to look for her. i think eventually he somehow talked to my mom because he couldn't find her and my mom told him: what do you mean? she's been buckled into her car seat this whole time. i think that's how it happened but i don't exactly remember, i heard this second hand because i was like 7 at the time and i was in the car or something so didn't witness it, and it's been a while since i heard it so my memory is fuzzy, but basically my dad saw a child that looked like my sister and it turned out she couldn't have been in that place because she was in the car, and the other child had completely vanished. so basically my dad saw a doppelganger of my sister. the weirdest part imo is that nothing like this ever happened again. and my dad has absolutely no history with hallucinations or mental illness or anything of the sort, and if he was making it up he would have revealed that by now (it's been 13 years). our house has never shown any signs of being haunted either, in all the 20 years we've lived here, and if it was an impression, why would my sister running by have enough emotional energy to create an impression? so to this day i am entirely stumped on what the fuck that was. it wasn't possible she wasn't in her car seat at the time my dad saw the apparition because of the amount of time that had passed since my mom buckled her in and the time it happened. so yeah, there's my weird doppelganger story

I’ve heard a different theory of the Dancing plague, it’s called “St Vitus Dance” or Sydenham’s chorea , it started with a woman praying to St Vitus ( who is the patron saint of dances and was martyred during the persecution of the Christians ) , she began to dance and was infectious!!! Hence everyone joined the dance and it’s believed that the spirit of St Vitus made everybody dance. Nowadays in England it refers to a person or child who can’t sit still. My great grandmother used to say to me that I had St Vitus dance because I was always dancing about. Now endeth the lesson.

I apparently have a double in the town next to me, though I haven't seen her. A work colleague around 17 years ago came into work and was a bit upset with me and when I asked her why, she said that she had seen me in town and said hello and that I ignored her, & annoyed her.I assured her that I wasn't in that town that day, I was at least twenty minutes away the entire day. I have one from my own hometown. Even my brother and mother couldn't tell her apart from me when they saw her years ago at a local park. We both even went into the same field of work. I've had 2 different jobs where she had apparently just quit and I was just hired. Everyone thought I was her. Over the years, we've matched hair style changes, from long to short and straight to curly. Her first name is my middle name, but no one remembers what her last name is. I was mistaken for her last year at a bank. My best friend thought I had surprised her by seeing her off at the airport but the woman ignored her. My friend said we even wore the same style of clothes. I would love to meet her and see for myself one day. I also wonder if she has ever been mistaken for me!

You do these so well, Callen (did I spell your name right?). I get drawn right in! I was happy you ended with the Jersey Devil. I try to watch videos about it whenever I can. I live in New Jersey, not far from the pine barrens. We lived in south Jersey until I was 2, and learned about it early on. I’ve been to Leeds Point and heard many stories over the years. One video I saw, forget which now, said that Mr. Leeds produced an almanac that was successful. Benjamin Franklin, who published Poor Richard’s Almanac, tried to discredit his almanac opponent, and wrote and spread many of the stories we wish were true. (A good but not very ethical business man, was Ben!) So I’m thinking the folklore is a bit embellished. I do, however, believe that something stalks the woods in south Jersey. The pine barrens really are large enough to hide creatures whose appearance could be anything. Bigfoot or dogman or some other animal could be living there. Just a thought for a future video! I've had two cases of people "claiming" they saw my doppelganger. The first was one of my high school when a friend of mine went to America on holiday and apparently was staying in a hotel where there was someone who apparently looked, sounded and acted identical to me. The second of these was last year when a girl in my college class came back from Spain and said she met someone who looked, sounded and acted identical to me. That was the most accurate description of the Jersey Devil. I grew up in Jersey ad while living in Clayton my back yard bordered the Pines. One late night, I was around 5yrs old (1968), I happened to hear something out back. I looked out my window and what I saw was the same thing that's described in the video! Later in Years later that the other rumor was that the Jersey devil was made up by English officers during the revolutionary war, told to enlisted soldier, to prevent them from defecting to the colonies!

A most recent sighting of the Jersey Devil was early in the 21st century. A woman living with her son in South Jersey, in the area known as the Pine Barrons, heard strange noises around their home during the Christmas season. It had been snowing. Something was making its' way around the outside of their single dwelling, ranch style home. The noises outside were odious and sinister. This was around 2 AM and continued on through the night. Eventually, the brave woman took a flashlight and went outside. She saw nothing. There was snow accumulation from 3" - 5". When she went inside she and her son heard more screeching and then heard noises coming from the roof of the house. Something was walking on their roof and then it stopped. By then it was daylight. The woman took a ladder and climbed to the roof with a camera. There were hoof prints in the snow on the roof that ended at the chimney. The woman took pictures and related their ordeal to the police and NEWS 12, NJ. The pictures and story were on the news the following day and NO body, at least in N.J., believes this was a hoax. I'm sure News 12 NJ, can verify the events.

I have a Doppler hanger also. It was 20 years ago. I had a antique store and some of my local customers would come in and ask me why I ignored them at the small college or why was I being rude. I didn’t understand why they said that because I hadn’t been at the college in 7 years! Anyway the Doppler hanger and I ran into each at the towns convenience store. It was surreal. We both just stopped and stared at each other. We both pointed at each other and we both said it’s YOU! We spoke for a few minutes trading stories about had been happening to both of us. I never saw her again. It was spooky seeing someone who looked just like you🙄😉😳

Also referring to the Salem witch trials, I did a report on a few years back, and scientists think that due to the lack of proper water filtering and the geographic location of the water the villagers were drinking was contaminated with mushrooms that caused hallucinatings, and the poorly harvested and separated wheat caused some side effects, such as seizures, sever stomach cramping, among other things. Naturally people panicked and assumed witches were to blame.

I lived in the Pine Barrens in Whiting New Jersey for 17 years. I was walking back down a dirt road in the National Forest and stopped short when in the middle of the road walking toward me was about a 4 foot will sound strange was like a werid looking hay stack thing that wobbled abit as it came forward, it stopped when it saw me. It made no sound. I had no cell phone then or a cammra. It went to the right then to the left where a stream was on the left side, then went completely around like looking behind its self. I didn't move or make a sound & it made no sound but went onto the grass to the right side about 10 or 15 feet then just vanished. I wondered if there was a hole or something where it could just dissapear too but there was just grass. I've always wondered if it could have come from some spacecraft as from time to time you could see them. Once even the police in the mid 90's told us to stay inside and they searched around with police guard dogs, I dout they found anything. This is the 1st time I've ever spoken about it cause folks would think it's made up. Why would anyone make this up just to be made fun of? My dog who was very protective of me just stayed in front of me and just looked at it at first then when it started barking the 'thing' moved into the grass and just dissapeared. Strange stuff. I wish I could have made a video of it. It wasn't threatening in any way.

In my life of interest in the supernatural I get a lot of people asking "Why are all of the ghosts old timey? Where are the ghosts in track suits and tube tops?" And I honestly blame the spiritual movement. And paranormal ignorance. with all of the Mediums, seance's, and and Ouija parties going on all the way up into the 50's it's no wonder. Your pronunciation really had me scratching my head for a moment then laughing so hard! Just an FYI - we have a Stephen Decatur here in the USA who was a prominent Naval officer during our Revolution. As my Daddy graduated from Annapolis (The US Naval Academy) he'd never forgive me (God Rest his Soul) if I didn't correct this tout-de suite! Decatur was his all time favorite naval hero... and as I lost Daddy when I was only a young girl, I do try to honor his memory. Thanks for understanding fellows. I live very close to Jimmy Leeds Rd. In NJ. When I found out the road was named after one of the family members associated with the Jersey Devil it freaked me out! The pine barrens are definitely a strange place. We used to party out there when we were kids. I’ve seen and heard some unexplainable things.. But it could’ve been the acid..
