Hello, Enjoy your channel. I really hate how society has given names to stuff that doesn't exist or just because they don't have a good way to explain something??? I have another reason, People have Gobs of Money and they can get stuff like this done without a 2nd thought. Maybe some people get this stuff done because they want people to Feel sorry for them, AKA They Thrive the attention. I would want these people to draw what they see in the mirror. And if they draw something way off base, Then instead of Getting them a Plastic surgeon get them a Mental Doctor because they definitely need help. Kudos to you for saying you would turn him down, But on the other side of that coin why wouldn't you referee him ( Or anyone ) to a Mental Doctor??? Cheers

There's a good chance that he may have a form of BDD. You obviously can't diagnose someone based on enjoying getting plastic surgery but I genuinely don't think this guy saw what all of us sees. And that's fine, it's just the nature of reality. It looks different to everyone. But when we push a form of beauty that isn't realistic or even based on what people genuinely look like more and more people are going to feel unattractive even if they aren't. And when you feel ugly it really impacts a lot of your life. And men are experiencing the highest levels of body dysmorphia than ever before. They're now holding themselves to similar standards that women are held to. It's a standard that isn't good for anyone.

He looks bizarre. His lip was already deformed (on purpose) and his face stretched way too far. How any MD would allow a face lift for a 20 something is beyond me. Too bad he will look 80 at 50 like most celebrities these days he'll even in theirb30s and 40s they look older than they should. The face lift is meant to be done at certain ages and to fix things that weren't wrong with him. When done for bizarre imagined issues amd at ages not well suited for the type of surgery then long amd short term results don't end up well. Although the US has an obsession with looking abnormal amd often seem to elevate as beauty what in most of the world looks like disfigurement and quite ugly.

i admire you for not doing unnecessary surgeries, especially when the person may have body dysmorphia and ought to take care of that first. a plastic surgeon talked to my sculpture class once and mentioned a mother who died from complications following a rhinoplasty. her family didn't want her to get it, told her she looked fine, but she did it anyway. so sad. that always sticks with me. surgery is risky.

I've been enjoying your reaction and advice to viewers about Cosmetic Surgery. I'm Scottish and spent my career in the operating theatre in my home city in Scotland. My first 5 years was as a scrub nurse and the last 25 yars as an anaesthetic nurse. Although we share a language things operation wise are done differently in the UK. We have an Anaesthetic Room where we anaethitise our patients before wheeling them into theatre, we either take the anaesthetised patient in on a trolly to transfer onto the operating theatre or the patients already on the operating theatre, this is because the patient will be having surgery that lasts longer than two hours. The only time we anaethetise in theatre is for a gastric bypass or gastric banding for bariatric patients. In this case we have two anaesthetic nurses and two consultant anaesthetists. Like our anaesthetic rooms no one would dare enter when a patient is being anaesthetised unless it's of the utmost importance. The same goes with bariatric surgery's. When it comes to text books and specialist information manuals for various equipment, we do on occasion have them in theatre, where the surgeon can re-familurise their selfs with various procedures. I liked how one of our Plastic and Reconstructive Consultant Surgeons would send certain patients to see a psychiatrist before he would operate on them. Dr Youn you know how some patients have unrealistic ideas about how they will look following surgery.

I can’t imagine hating myself so much that I would want to surgically alter my face so I wouldn’t look like myself anymore. I’m FAR from good-looking. I’ve never been handsome. But I’m me and my face is me and I wouldn’t want to spend the money, endure the pain, and risk the possible complications of surgery. If I were to become injured or had to have surgery that altered my face (like for melanoma), then yes, I can see the need for reconstruction or other plastic surgeries. But I don’t understand why anyone who isn’t injured or deformed would ever want to make themselves not look like themselves. (Oh, and I’m autistic, so I don’t understand why people do lots of things. I look at everything logically, not emotionally. I’m weird that way. Weird and proud.)

I have this problem where I see myself in the mirror and I see myself, with the good and the bad things about my face and body. BUT when I see myself in a picture taken by someone else (the way everyone else sees me) I find myself disgusting, there's this extreme feeling of rejection for my own appearance, like the person I'm seeing is not me. My face looks asymmetrical. This doesn't happen when I take a selfie because it's inverted, just like the mirror.

When I was younger, it was just weird seeing myself in pictures. Like, I know that's me because everyone else says it's me, but it doesn't really feel like me. Lately, when I look at my nose in the mirror, I think it's cute. When I see myself in pictures, I think my nose looks weird, like too long and bulbous on the end. I've decided those pictures (or, more accurately, my reactions to myself in those pictures) are just wrong. I love the nose I see in the mirror and accept that it just doesn't always photograph well to my eye. For you, well... Are you focusing on your mirror at home? Try taking a look at different mirrors in different lighting (including outside) from different angles. If you wear makeup, you may be doing something that looks right under the lighting at home and looks wrong in other lighting. You can try taking video of yourself to figure out what poses and angles are best for you in pictures. I hope you find some way to see your true self and your true beauty.

I had to check your profile picture seeing the other person's comment and you truly are very beautiful. First of all photos can actually distort how we look surprisingly, so I wouldnt give much weight to them, especially if you feel it's different to when you look in the mirror. How you look in the mirror is how you look hun! Secondly I would find someone trusted you can talk about this to. A parent, teacher, therapist, etc I think most women go through feelings of not liking how we look at some stage in our lives, especially with the societal pressure etc, but it doesn't have to be that way. If it were me, I would first take a look at what kind of content I'm consuming. Is it all about plastic surgery, very beautiful influencers vlogs etc? How about reducing or entirely switching them out for content you enjoy where maybe the content creator isn't a stereotypical highly beautiful person. Learn a new hobby, watch videos about new topics you haven't learnt about before, etc Unfortunately what we consume really does affect us. I used to struggle with how I looked. My ears stick out and I have a very big pointy nose with a bump, and I struggled for a long time with these features. What helped me was: 1. I'm Christian. So I knew God gave me these features because he liked them, thinks they're beautiful, and are perfect for me. So I knew I had to figure out a way to see what he saw, and that helped me not want to change anything. 2. I love learning about other cultures. Did you know in China they love ears that stick out because they make the face look smaller? I saw women from European countries with noses like mine, and I realised how elegant, feminine and regal they looked. I realised I just needed to match the rest of my outfit and hair to match my not so casual nose 😂 3. It gets easier with age. It genuinely does. I'm in my late 30's now, and have slightly sagging skin and some wrinkles. And I accept it and embrace it. I can't change it, ageing is a part of life. What's the use in stressing about it? I do wish I'd spent far less time when I was younger worrying and disliking how I looked, and just enjoyed my bouncy firm smooth skin lol! It doesn't last forever! 😂 I hope this can help you in some way. Life is precious, time is precious. I hope you can come to love yourself exactly as you are, and spend the precious time doing and thinking about things you truly enjoy. It's not easy, it may take time, but it is possible. Good luck hun! I wish you all the very best ❤

That's just being a normal person. Everyone has that feeling. Where it can go wrong is when people focus too much on what in reality are quite minor, even if you think they are not. Trust me, you even with any flaws are still beautiful. I would not touch your face with surgery. If you feel you can't accept it, I suggest seeing a therapist to help talk through this. It's not really am issue of something being wrong or ugly or asymmetrical about your face (most people have some normal assymetry), this is more about your perception of something being seriously wrong when in reality there isn't anything wrong.

Wish I lived close to you and you could do the surgery for me. ❤ from uk 🇬🇧

At 30 I looked good, looked young for my age. At 40 I was told over and over that I looked fantastic, I looked 30. I was 5'8, size 36/38 european, great hair (thanks mum) clear pale skin, no zits of blemishes, no sun damage. I had lovely teeth and bright blue eyes. I didn't care, I didn't wear the amazing clothes that body could wear. I didn't make up, I did keep my hair nice and had monthly body waxing etc. When people admired me I tended to look behind me, not thinking ot was me. At 50 I looked more or less the same, around 40, a bit more weight, up from 50 kilos to 58 kilos, had great boobs that held up with no bra. I still didn't care how I looked, wore anything that came to hand, made some effort for work but comfort first. From 50 to 60 my life fell apart, got dumpted in a foreign country, had my money taken, couldn't get a visa, lost my business, my house, my dogs and ended up in China, sad as hell. I ended up back in Paris in 2008, no money, no home, few clothes. I spent the next 8 years climbing back up the ladder, avoiding the mirror, still not caring, trying to survive. Long story short at 68 I awoke and thought NO, I want to feel like me, want to look in mirrors, want to dress up, want to be attractive 'again'. So I began with having my teeth done, still ongoing. Next year I will have a complete face lift, eyes,, neck, skin resurfacing etc. The year after I will get rid of my tummy and have my body checked for blemishes. I live alone, I want to meet myself in the bathroom, I am not ashamed of my intentions despite those around me warning me off, saying that I am 'pretty as I am'. It's FOR ME.

I see what you mean Dr. Youn. That is a very wholesome and compassionate way to interpret the way he originally looked compared to the surgeries that he opted for. But why is it up to you to determine what is worth it or not? I think he looks great and that is what he was going for. He was never ugly to begin with, but I'd be lying if I said that the surgeries didn't enhance his looks; and isn't that what he was after?
