I love your content. I would like to know if you have any idea why Motion takes me about 10 minutes to open. I have a Mac Studio with M1 Max and the program always freezes at open. Then already open, works fine. Please if you know something about that tell me know. Thank you

Hmm that’s a great question! My first thought being, are you on Ventura yet? I’ve heard of people having major issues with Ventura and FCP. Haven’t heard much about Motion though. Another possibility being, if you have lots of plugins installed, it can take a long time to boot up. Especially complex plugins. Another thing you could try is seeing if there’s an update for Motion. It seems super unlikely, but you might have an intel version of Motion installed, and your Mac is pushing it through Rosetta. And the very last thing I’d check, if you have almost filled out your hard drive, this can make a lot of apps really sluggish.

I'm still trying to work out how motion might be used for my hyperlapses and flow motion stuff like after effects is for some in transitions, I'm not sold yet unfortunately. Nice videos though!!

Motion is powerful but honestly can’t beat After effects in most things. Which is to be expected since it costs the same per month for after effects as it does for one time to get Motion haha! That said, I think the area that Motion just might be better than After Effects is Motion Graphics. It has much simpler tools to pull of really powerful animations. Also I think template design is better in Motion. But for VFX, After Effects is the GOAT! I want to pull together a AE vs Motion video, but I just haven’t had the time. Also I’m finding I’ve forgotten a lot about AE over the years of trying to only use Motion whenever possible.
