Hi Sarah, please see the link of my favorite cool season crops: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpbFdZJ3mteGnac Since the Winters in KZN is mild, you will be able to grow them with easy. Addition, Cool season crops include: Parseley, Spinach, Lettuce, Kohlrabi, Bok Choy, Arugula, Radishes and Turnips. Since KZN is mostly frost free you can also grow potatoes. I hope this helps, all the best!

Thank you for the video it's very insightful, I just started planting vegetables but I have trouble with pests, please advise what can I use to protect my plants?
@veggiesandherbswithruebenm2065 Жыл бұрын
Hi Thando, thanks for the kind feedback, much appreciated! I never had any significant pest issues, but I saw a homemade insect-repelling recipe in a book by Jane Griffiths “Jane’s delicious Urban Gardening”. I have not tried it yet, perhaps it can assist you with your problem, please let me know if it works. See the recipe below Garlic Insecticidal Oil: Ingredients: - 1 head garlic (peeled) - 4 Onions - 1 tablespoon chopped hot chilies - 2 table spoons of canola oil - 2 tablespoons dishwashing liquid Finely blend the garlic, onion and chilies with the oil and dishwashing liquid Cover and leave the mixture for 24 hours. Strain, seal and refrigerate. To use: Mix 1 tablespoon of prepared oil per litre of water and spray directly on insects and on the leaves, covering both sides. This mixture is effective for insects like aphids, whitefly, mites and small battles.
