Welcome back! You’re even geekier than me about plants, and that’s saying a lot. I love it. About repotting: what if you can’t wait to let it acclimatize? I live in the US Desert Southwest. It is still very hot and dry right now, like 95°F today, 35°C in terminology you and the rest of the world uses. Some of my plants have come in planted in coco coir, I think. Whatever the media, with our dry climate & small pots, it dries out into a desiccated brick very quickly, within 5 days of watering. The only way to penetrate it when dry is with a knife. It is very strange and I don’t think it is good for the plant. I went back and forth whether to repot it within a few weeks of bringing it home. My instinct is to remove that planting media and put it into a healthier soil media right away. When dealing with adverse conditions and you can’t wait, what would you do? Is there anything you would recommend to help it out? The plants in question are both Monsteras - a Deliciosa and an Adansonii, if that matters.

.. Oh dear.. First of all, breathe.. Now you go and make a new potting mix of coco chips, orchid bark, perlite, and a bit of coco coir .. Then you take your plants out the pot, remove as much of the "old" soil as you can, loose up the roots a bit and let them soak in water for about 15 minutes or so (the poor thing needs to be hydrated) then you take a pot that fits, put in the roots and fill up with your new chunky mix, and then you water again.. Make sure to drain all excess water.. Leave your plants in a shaded but bright lighted spot and keep them watered when they need it..

Greetings from New York City - I am a new plant owner! I'm so glad I came across your channel and have subscribed. I have been learning so much...I have inherited and rescued quite a few plants over the last few months. I have sticky notes with your plant care advice placed right on the pot of my Dracena, Fiddle Leaf, Sanseveria and Pony Tail Palm ! I am also looking to get help/info on my Ledebouria Socialis- Silver Squill...It's HUGE- very wide!! I want to repot into many smaller plants but am not sure about the correct soil. Hope to see an informative Video on Ledebouria care. Until next time...Adjö !

The problem where I live in the pacific north west is that the plants come in to the store in a heavy soil / Pete moss mix that retains too much water it is humid and mostly cloudy and rainy so if the plants just sit in the soil always over watered, from the store they rot within days. You have to use grow lights here also. I’d love to prevent the shock of re planting and removing all of the dirt but in my experience that leads to worse problems. What can I do?

Against the first advice in an earlier video he did I brought my dracaena fragrans home and repotted it within the next few days. It took it 3 weeks to show the stress but the leaves are now dying off at an alarming rate, with one stem now having none. I learned my lesson.
