I beat the piss out of the big rock, no issues. I think gear mesh has something to do with stripping. I make sure the mesh is very close with very little play. No stripping. I love this car!

I have a new spur gear coming but my mesh was pretty good, I honestly think it may have been a rock stuck in there, so a hole at the bottom .I got be the way to go 😀

You might have addressed this in a previous video, but the hot motor could be due to the front motor bearing going out. My granite v3 would barely get past warm until the bearing started to go out. Once that happened my Temps would rise much higher much faster. I swapped the bearings in the motor and it ran much cooler again. Great video man! Just found this channel and I love the videos!

Love Big Rock V3. Agreed with the tyres, have replaced with different tyres and end up putting the stock tyres back in. I think it should be compared with Traxxas Hoss as it is the same 3S, but hey if you say it's comparable to 4S Maxx, you made my day 😊

I've had my bigrock for about 2 weeks only took it out a few times and I have multiple problems such as forks have lost alot of oil, the motor got so got it melted a bit on the center drive shaft, front left wheel is wobbly plus more but I still don't regret buying it

Love my Big Rock. Have had a few durability issues, servo burnt out, rear axle screw broke and stock tyres shredding the hubs out, still great value and the NZ hobby shops seem to have plenty of parts. My motor gets hot but can usually survive the 3 second touch test. I watched a video the other day which said the Arrma 3s line was hard to work on. WTF? From my experience this thing is easy as to work on. Thanks for the video dude.

I haven't had those issues yet, but I haven't had much time to abuse it too much haha. Hard to work on? No way, my motor compartment is a bit tight at times but besides that, its a breeze!

Just a thought but have you tried an air compressor to blast off your RCs when you have finished bashing with them for the day ? i brought one myself from Amazon & it is a awesome piece of kit, they are extremely reasonably priced too. You can just blast each RC with the compressed air and it brings them up spotless, removing all the dust & debris that builds up on the RC chassis when the shell is removed. Just a Thought …….. If you like your maxx than a Arrma granite would be great for you. It is a wheelie monster like the maxx. But for better handling and jumping the big rock is what you’d want. Both are great as I’ve bought both lol. Including two maxxes.

Dude my big rock v2 has been a headache, loved the v1 so when v2 came out I got it. Rite outa the box I stuck in a 20t pinion, it runs for a min then shuts dwn. I ran it twice and & its with manufacturers atm. I ran it a soccer field btw so well manicured grass & that was my experience.

Great vid!! Great truck, matching it up to the Maxx isn't quite apples to apples.... they both hit the same-ish speeds, although one is a 4s. The Maxx has gotta have the wide kit to compare to the big rock. Here's a question, the 4s step up is the kraton, would you want the kraton over the Maxx? Nah, you'd want the Maxx!! Its the effing price point that makes the big rock such an easy choice. Now, ask me, if you're paying, which do I choose, lol.

I'd choose the big rock. Traxxas likes to lie on their box about speeds. Not a great first impression so prefer hpi over Traxxas.

I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt Arrma is built tough. I’ve got a JLB cheetah a JLB J3 speed a couple ZD racing cars. They all break constantly. Except the Arrma it hasn’t broke once. It’s an Arrma granite BLX100 brushless. I don’t do anything too crazy but I jump it and race it.

I find the motor gets hot when the bearings in the motor can blow out as a sign too stop as the motor, heat sink and fan works great on V3 running 3S for me on a Granite. Now I want a BIGRock man Cheers 🍻

Yes I agree I don't like we're how they got the spare gear setup and no hose so just dropping some fallout and two I can't stand the shock swear they push on on the bottom instead of threatening because now I have no armour socks caused due to mind-blowing off and put them back on and blow it off again they have Traxxas shocks on them

Hate my Big rock v3 esc has been replaced (warranty)engine bearing dead after 2 packs. Rear diff blow up after 3 packs also bad bearing inside diff ar610014. Broken rear arm+ front arm. Spurgear died too. Car Is 1 month old😔🙄. But a love my Mojave v2 20 packs in an only broken a diff cup, it’s a tank👍.

Very strange, that the motor gets hot. I run mine until the Genace 5000mah is empty, then change the battery and emty the second one, but the motor does get hot

It is a bit strange, I don't think it gets hot enough on 3s to wreck anything but I'd make sure those motor bearings are oiled 😀

Hey, just got one, didn’t run it yet, didn’t even have the battery for it. I was wondering if yours has one or more wobbly wheel. When i spun the diffs i noticed the front right wheel wasn’t spinning perfectly straight like the 3 others. It’s nice and tight, and the drive shaft spins properly. I really don’t know what’s going on here, or if it’s even a problem. Anyway thanks!

I like this truck. It's not in the league of the maxx, but it's way cheaper also. I think I me toned it in a other video, but my motor went bad a d I was sent a blx replacement and it's been fine. My friend crashed it into a curb at full speed and the steering hasn't been right after, But even before that, my biggest problem is getting the alignment correct. It's all over the place trying to go in a straight line. I cant figure it out.

I think my biggest issue is on the suspensions... I bent the shocks on first run (and I wasn't that hard on it) and the bottom pop'd out on the front shocks and now it doesn't want to stay on... every time I go out it pops out.

I can't decide on the big rock or the granite. I wanted the vorteks, but I've herd that it doesn't preform all that well on uneven terrain and grass (which I mainly run on), so now I'm stuck between the two 3s monster trucks!

In my opinion the traxxas maxx is way over priced for what you get! The big rock blows it away for a lot less money! Arrma is putting a hurtin on traxxas! Traxxas Dominated the hobby too long and it went to their head they’re gonna have to step up their game with better Quality and bring their ridiculous prices down or arrma is gonna put them out

I know this video is almost a year old. But for a $396 price point its a good starter RTR. I own a big rock because I wanted to get into RC again. Too many fill like being in car audio again you're always going to have fanboys and they're going to stick to something like a Traxxas it's going to go out and experiment with other things. Now I could have spent $600 to 700 dollars on the Traxxas but a lot of times those people's must go to. But I'm the type of guy I watch tinker on things Plus when I go out and run mine after I'm done I cleaned it out get cleaned out and lubed up again. It's going to own an ATV or motorcycle you got the maintenance on it and you got to maintain it clean it.

Well brother gotta say, i no longer own the big rock. Problem after problem, started with spur, then drive shafts replaced a few and still broke, then the straw that broke the PROVERBIAL back of the camel, the differential in the rear broke, and as for the TRAXXAS MAXX, big rock is not even close to that, the only thing that broke was a steering knuckle, just need to spend a few bones to make it a tank, wide kit, steel cvd, that's about all that I needed on my solar flare maxx.

For me, it's definently the TRAXXAS MAXX, as it's a completely different construction! As the Driveline and the Motor are build on top of the BigRock, the MAXX ist constructed the better way (my personal opinion), the RC-car is constructed around the driveline/elektronics. To get the same strength of the car you need to invest a lot more into the BigRock to get the same dustability as the MAXX. Also the MAXX is more of a Monstertruck and the BigRock sits a lot lower... I hope I have accomplished a summary of these two cars. I personally really prefer the Maxx, but I'm getting myself a X-MAXX soon, it's the similar but in a bigger scale/size, and I would still choose a X-MAXX than a ARRMA 8S for the same reasons. I am not a Traxxas Fanboy, but in regards of these two cars I prefer Traxxas. My favorite Arrma would be the 6S EXB... There are a lot more Arguments for both cars, and everybody needs to find their own best suited one! :) The Goal is the biggest smile. I apologize for my shi*ty English, I am from Germany and still a englisch learning student. PS: You cut you videos very nice, Matthew! Keep on going and I'll try to support you. People like you are rare, so motivated and active and happy.

I hate the arrma big rock. It cost me $200 just worth of parts In only one month, but later on I sold it and bought a traxxas rustler and it worked and lasted a lot longer. Traxxas is definitely recommended!

I have a vortex and I’ve had many problems with it within the first month. The main problem is it keeps spitting out drive shafts. I’ve replaced them five times already. Bent motor mount bad spur gear and the tire eat up quick. It is a fun powerful truck when it’s together but the problem is keeping it together! If I had it to do all over again Mojave 100%. Horizon Hobby has the truck now going through it completely. It might have just been a lemon off the assembly line
