Good to see your channel active again - always appreciate your perspective. Of course no country on earth is perfect, and Colombia certainly has its share of issues. I've been living here full-time more than three years now, and a key to longevity is accepting things as they are and learning how to adapt. A key point you made is to be as self-sufficient as possible, as an over-reliance on others here can be inefficient and sometimes even dangerous. Also maintaining a low profile and "security first" attitude at all times is super important for long-term survival.

Thanks for sticking around during the hiatus! And good points! 😁

What you mean exactly by over-reliance on others?

Great stuff as always. Don't trust the KZbinrs that make it sound like everything about Colombia is paradise. Also don't listen to people who are overly negative. We always have to take the bad with the good. And there's a lot of good. Ezrato, I'd love to see some videos outside or 'on location', but I'll keep watching either way. Thanks!

Thanks! I'm not in Colombia at the moment, but will try and do more filming when I'm back.

While looking for an ATM, 2 very friendly colombian gentlemen accompanied me to the nearest location and demanded 1.2 million pesos. Lol. Do not let your guard down. Still, Medellin is one of my favorite cities in the world. Can't wait to get back there.

I would say the key to making such a transition is more mental than practical, has a lot to do with charisma and personality. If you make people around you smile, you probably will in other countries too. Are you the kind who radiates good vibes or do you erect psychological barriers to keep people away? I'm not talking about extroversion here so much as general affability and openness. The new travelling with people gazing into their devices is NOT conducive to the business of socialization. As someone who's spent 35 years travelling and living in other countries, whilst remaining a dunce at languages, but more specifically having gone 7 or 8 times to Colombia, I recommend learning some Colombia street slang, common sayings and tongue-twisters, one or two phrases at a time. You can break a lot of ice by dropping these into 'conversations'. Only speaking English, you will still remain of use to many educated and self-educated Colombians only too happy to try out their own mastery of English. Of course learn how to say thank you, have you got, and that is beautiful. Listen to how the locals pronounce words, not the guide book.

You missed a very important point!! NOISE.......It's a LOUD country........blaring music, vendors selling good with mega phones...the list goes on and on of why its a LOUD country unless you live in a small town.......so, if you don't like noise don't move to a major city

I try to be open-minded but I found that the food flat-out sucks, 90% of the meals I ate were terrible. I went twice recently under the guise of medical tourism but really was hoping the cam girls I 'scored' with were gonna send me to the moon. No dice. I was too old for them and there was little chemistry. But gosh, they saw and heard me on Whatsapp and in photos so of course I was surprised by how tepid they were by day two. I got a bacterial infection there is late March, third day of trip, and still fighting it now, almost a month later. The Internet usually does not work in your hotel room, making the country a no-go.

They are forcing me to get married to get the residentency visa. I think after three years i cam apply for residency. My question for you is if let say after 4 years and i already obtained my residency visa if me and my wife file for divorce do i get my residency visa taken away from me or do i get to keep it for life.
@ezratotravel5 ай бұрын
I'm guessing you'd get to keep it, but not 100% sure. Personally I wouldn't recommend getting married just for the visa, but that's a personal choice I guess.
@user-rw7185 ай бұрын
@@ezratotravel they leave you know choice other than to get married. Years ago you could buy a property and they would give a five year visa with residency after five years that's completely gone now. If you buy property it's one year visa each year you need to renew it and you never get residency. Why do you say don't get married what's the big deal if a person gets married just wondering why you think getting married is a bad thing

Very dusty and no longer eternal springtime weather. Attitudes have changed . TOO many gringos and I’m a gringo but have been going before the influx. Be careful at ATMs don’t accept any help in an ATM! When you take a new friend to a meal be prepared for her or him to bring family and or friends without telling you and the bill is yours to pay. They will also order the most expensive items.

Don't buy a car. That is about when my life in Medellin started to suck.
