Iron Maiden are one of the most beloved metal bands of all time. So why does everyone want to know why people hate them? THEY DON'T! END OF STORY.
Ok that's not totally true, some folks just can't get behind Bruce Bruce and company, citing some pretty odd reasons as to their decision. So let's say no more and get down to it, here's 5 reasons that people HATE Iron Maiden.

Life will suck so much more without them. Iron Maiden have gotten me through hell. They have for many years. When they go, a piece of me will go to. They're the greatest. No other metal band have done & will ever do it better with such consistency & integrity for such a long period of time. That almost never happens. If I were them, I'd write & record ASAP in between the tour or whenever. A new album can be done by early 2017. The sooner, the better at this stage. Bruce is currently writing & recording his new solo album whenever he gets free time. UP THE IRONS FOR LIFE! Iron Maiden, thank you for everything you've done & still do. I love you guys. +Frankamentise life won't suck without them man. Plenty of us will keep iron maiden alive n well till we die and after we're dead it ain't our problem anymore! lol. Alot of their songs are timeless but you have to really appreciate music and their writing style to get into them. Most people i've tried to get Maiden into aren't into the vocal style, don't listen to the words, and don't know how to follow the instruments. it sucks but i've found most Maiden fans are just big fans of the art of music and if you just listen to music to drive or to pass the time, you won't get it.

@@MrMooMoo088 Well Iron Maiden are not a typical party band that is going mainstream nowadays. I was told that their music is "boring", there aren't any good chorus. It is not something you can dance to, yeal well those people didn't fancy metal at all. It is kind of hard to sing the lyrics together as well. Their lyrics are not about "partying" topics but wars, religion, politics, not so much about love or that kind of stuff. I don't really mind as everyone has their own music taste.

I like all there albums with the exception of seventh son ( well infinite dreams and can i play with madness are awesome) and no prayer . Having listened to every song by them id argue there is no clear cut " best album" Power slave is closest to best because all of its songs are either GOOD or AMAZING . Fear of the dark on the other hand has AMAZING songs mixed in with meh songs ( kind of like number of the beast) but id say the two most balanced albums maiden has EVER made are Power slave and Brave new world . Somewere in time is a album i LOVe but dont regard highly since the whole album is GOOD songs with one meh song. Dance of death is a neither GOOD album with one meh song but no real amazing works .

I LOVE the title track on Seventh Son, Moon Child is awesome, Evil That Men Do and especially The Clairvoyant. The only Iron Maiden albums I dont like are No Prayer For the Dying and Fear of the Dark.. there are good songs on those albums, but for me they are the weaker albums. That's just my opinion. Especially when compared to the sheer brilliance of Brave New World, Dance of Death, Final Frontier and Book Of Souls.

I consider them two things. NWOBHM (which in itself hints it's age), or classic heavy metal. NOT heavy metal in today's context. Heavy metal in yesterday's context. I also acknowledge that what i call "modern metal" is far different than that. It's something like Avenged sevenfold, or maybe five finger death punch. stuff i don't particularly like, but neither here nor there. lol.. The Neo- Heavy metal stage that is distinctly different than iron maiden or otherwise.

Glenn Atkinson I think segregating bands for bad reasons isn't a good idea. However, I am very particular about my genres. I welcome pushing old heavy metal into it's own "classic" heavy metal genre. When i'm in the mood for something, i want to focus on that specific type of music. If i want folk power, i want folk power. Not necessarily pagan, folk prog, or otherwise. Effectively there is clarifying what style of music a band is for educational use, and then there's being a douche. I realize what you are suggesting with you comments.

The main problem with young Metal fans is that they get used to the "droning" of modern production (double-bass drums, blast beats, saturated distorted guitars, growling vocals, buried bass, compressed mastering..etc) and have a hard time considering old-school Metal. Maiden has always been a band to experience Live, even their albums are recorded so they are easily translated to a Live environment.

Yeah because their studio albums are mediocre at best. Bruce Dickinson is an energetic and charismatic frontman, but he's not a good singer, not even back in the 80s. Nowadays his voice is totally shot after getting throat cancer, it's a wonder he hasn't been replaced.

Iron maiden is UN-heavy metal. They do have metal style solos and a classic metal vocal style. However; they have far to many riffs without power cords, and most of the power cords they do play are rooted on the A string with to high a pinch to sound very heavy.

They just take names from popular works of fiction--books, movies, greek mythology, classic literature, etc. The most profound idea they can come up with is some very, very vague ramblings on an anti-war cliche. Their best lyrics on the song "Hallowed Be Thy Name" aren't even their own, they copied them from another song (with credit and due payments).

I can recognize "talent" even from bands that I hate. I just simply dislike their sound or something like that. Iron Maiden is not a band that I hate, though. But saying that if you don't like Iron Maiden, you hate metal or you don't know what talent is is just BS. People have different tastes and not everybody likes the same stuff, even if the band plays tightly and has a singer with great voice and vocal range and a guitarist who has totally mastered the instrument. Metal is such a broad genre of music that if you like one type of metal, you can still dislike other types of metal. Now, the reasons mentioned in the video are bad reasons to hate a band. I would say most of them are excuses, not reasons. Why I dislike some of Iron Maiden's music is because it can get kind of cliched sometimes. Guitar harmonies, three chords, galloping rhythm, Bruce's singing style... I know that's what makes Iron Maiden sound like Iron Maiden, but sometimes it sounds a bit cliched and it gets boring. I do think some of their songs are great, though, and sometimes they write something different like "Alexander the Great" (with the prog-ish instrumental section in the middle) and that's what I like.

I'm Devy I don't think Maiden is necessarily boring. I think some of their songs are great but some of their stuff sounds a bit cliched to me. Agree with you. I was in high school when their first albums were released. To me their music was not as sophisticated as many other bands of the time such as Sabbath, Deep Purple, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Zeppelin, Sepultura. They are a good band but it isn't the type of music I could replay very often and continue to enjoy every time, and I have always considered them similar in lower "replayability" to Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Kiss and Guns N Roses. Good music, even influential music, but not my style. Maybe they had too much radio play. Maybe the vocals were too dominant: "...Run to the hills, run for your lives...Run to the hills, run for your lives...Run to the hills, run for your lives...Run to the hills, run for your lives..."

Book Of Souls is close to Brave New World which is overall my 2nd favourite Maiden album. It's a killer album imo. I like every song on The Book Of Souls. For me personally it's: 1) Seventh Son of a Seventh Son 2) Brave New World 3) The Book Of Souls

I rank BoS as Maiden 4th strongest album. The only albums that I rank higher are 1. Brave New World 2. Somewhere In Time 3. Seventh Son ...and then you have BoS. I am so pleased that you think the same as me :) I think X Factor is second only to A Seventh Son of a Seventh Son in my opinion. I love the X Factor. Blaze Bayley's voice was the other end of the scale to Bruce, and that is why I love the Album so much. It was great to hear Iron Maiden have a different vocal to the music. All the songs on the Album were killer also. The fact Bruce came back also cemented the Album as a classic.

Maiden is one of those bands that about 90% of the comunity can agree on. The remaining 10% are just elitists who insist their only good albums are the first 2 and people who just can't go anywhere near melodic vocals. I even met a guy who said he didn't like them that much because they were just copying their style from some lesser known band(wish I rememebered the name) throughout the 80's. The blaze albums were definitely maiden's low points in their career but the albums are not that bad, just different. Brave new world was maiden's big return and they have been doing a superb job since. Maiden is one of the only metal super giants to still produce albums, tour with a huge stage production and include all band memebers from their classic era with the exception of clive R.I.P.

Plus we have underrated masterpieces like A matter of life and death, book of souls or even X-Factor. After the 80s we have legendary iron maiden songs like Fear of the dark,sign of the cross, for the greater good of God, paschendale, empire of the clouds and list goes on. These new albums are very solid,and some of them are not outclassed by the 80s albums

I can't find it within me to care why someone would hate Iron Maiden. The first Iron Maiden I ever heard was the Killers album, followed by Number of the Beast. From there I was hooked. Anything they did, I liked. I will say it was a bit difficult adjusting to Blaze Bayley being. I got to see Blaze-era maiden live and I loved the show. I'm glad Bruce came back in, though.

Maiden is one of a kind. The more I listened to the albums after 7th Son, the more I liked them. I didn't like Dance of the Dead, the final frontier and Souls the first time I listenened along with their other albums. I think they're awesome now.

Bruce did talk a lot of smack in the 2000's but gotta remember at this point, Iron Maiden were no longer "fighting" for a paycheck or to stay relevant within this generation of metal. He spoke out about how horrible "metal" had become in the 2000's, a lot of bands were not standing out on their own, like back in the day. They were all starting to sound a lot a like. And the "screamo" stuff he talked smack about too. But at this point, Iron Maiden threw the rule book out, and said we're at a place where we can just be us, we'll play where we want, do what we want, we are in control of ourselves.. I mean think about it. in 05' they toured just playing songs off the first 4 albums and it was a killer tour. Then they decided to lease out a huge passenger jet and Bruce flew the band around on tour ( no one had ever done this before) and they still do that. Iron Maiden became even bigger by going against the grain of that time. And that's why they're bigger than ever now.. it's not a reason to hate them, it's a reason to love them! Up the Irons.

Know what's funny?? I've come across many people who hate Slipknot, Megadeth, Metallica, and Avenged Sevenfold. This is actually typical! But to be honest, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden are the two biggest bands in heavy metal history, and rightfully so!! Even bigger than Metallica! I never liked their sound. And I've been listening to metal since almost 20 years... They just never did it for me, I always preferred Priest or Manowar, King Diamond... And quickly oriented myself on "darker" metal genres such as doom or black metal. YET, I would never dare to shit on this band. Some arguments here are absolutely ridiculous, they deserve their success and their legendary status. Like, it's not because I don't like them that it means they're bad, I'm just not the target for they do, and I think that a lot of people tend to not understand this very simple fact about music in general.

As a maiden fan I can pinpoint some flaws that I have noticed for the band. I think their chords sound very identical in many of their songs and doesn't have much depth to it especially in newer albums. Second is that Bruce's live vocals tend to sound flat and tired and third is that they drag out their newer songs much longer than they need too. Other than that I love the band.

Call their new elitist beats something else, like cybermud or tubfat or anything else...but metal is metal, and iron maiden is a goddamn foundation metal sits upon. ....but in all reality, their 7th son was the turn which stopped the powerhouse. sure, plenty of other good releases since then, but pre 7th, they were a unstoppable force pooping out diamonds..after that, hit and miss, and thats simply da troof! But they will always be legend, even if they spend the next decade simply covering barry manilow songs... ....and they need to do a slow swap out of members now I think, or watch the sun set within the next 10 or so years. Bruce wont be touring at 70...or shouldn't anyhow. new blood, hand picked by respective band members, and broken in with blessing and support...also call it something different, like War Maiden or the like.

+Rob Xsiq sad but true about the "not metal" argument. it's a movement fostered by mainly younger fans or fans who listen exclusively to extreme metal. A generational issue similar to why a pop fan of today doesn't appreciate or like the Four Seasons or Diana Ross, it sounds so different it can't possibly be in the same genre. aka it's a stupid argument. :D I dig stuff after 7th Son, including X Factor, which was darkly brilliant, but those are just my thoughts. To be fair, the thing I hate most about Iron Maiden is those old school "fans" who can't accept that a band can change musically, and instead expect the band to sound excactly the same as they have always done. Maiden fans are experts at that. They are so obsessed and blind on the 80s that everything after Seventh Son/Fear Of The Dark sucks as a principle, since it doesn't sound excactly like the 80s albums. Instead of actually listening many times on the album and give it a serious try, they decide to bash on it beforehand, and then base their whole album opinion on a negative opinion they already created before they actually heard the album. Everything from Brave New World onwards sucks since it doesn't sound like the 80s albums, and therefore Maiden has run out of ideas. That logic! I mean, so many Maiden fans that shouted for Bruces comeback after the dark years of Blaze Bayley. Their dreams where fullfilled, and how did they thank Maiden? By bashing on their new albums and critizise them for not sounding like before. What's wrong with people?! I wouldn't even bother to call those peoples fans, since true fans always stand up for the band and gives new material time to show their greatness. To just bash new material from the start as a principle since it doesn't sound like before is not to be a fan, it's just foolishness

I saw Ironmaiden with Paul Di'Anno but never with Bruce Dickinson. Ironmaiden were promoting "Killers" opening for Judas Priest, who were promoting "Point Of Entry". It was also the night before Prince Charles married Lady Diana. 'Maiden didn't get much of a reception in the beginning but at the end of their set they got a great reception.

One of the most idiotic comments I got about Maiden's music was "there's no bass" at which I aped Steve Harris' "Run to the hills" bass solo and his intro to "Stanger in a strange land" At which he blubbered that that wasn't what he meant and brought forwards Messugah with their downtuned guitars. He told me that you need to tune to at least C to be truly metal, at which I asked him to name the most heavy riff he knows of. Which of course was Slayer's "Raining blood" and I told him "That riff was played in standard tuning you moron."

I dont hate Iron Maiden. I just dont care for them much at all. They appear to be solid but i just get bored quickly when trying to listen to an album. I do kinda dislike how safe they have played it over the years and have been relatively samey as time has gone on. I just cant say I think they are on par with Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, or Deep Purple.

5 reasons why it took me a really long time to get into Iron Maiden: 1. THEY'RE OVERRATED!... by the fans. They praise them as some kind of musical gods, everybody seems to want to ride Iron Maiden's dick, defending albums like No Prayer for the Dying, Fear of the Dark & The Final Frontier, which are terrible records. Yet they hate on good albums like "The X Factor" & "Virtual XI", just because Bruce Dickinson isn't on those albums. The whole reasons why those albums were good was because Bruce wasn't apart of them, cause the biggest reason why NPFTD & FOTD sucked was Bruce's bad performance. He was tired of Maiden and didn't give a shit, he ruined a lot of good songs. 2. They're not heavy enough for me (The reason why they will never be one of my favorite bands.) 3. You are NOT allowed to dislike them or say that they're overrated, you're treated as an idiot if you do. (just look at the comment section of this video!) 4. Bruce Dickinson is an overrated vocalist. He's great and it's very impressive how good he sound live to this day, but he's still overrated. 5. Maiden fanboys, like the ones in this comment section. +4NG3Lx0FxD34TH i would argue most of your points are pretty shallow reasons to hate a band, any band. the type of arguement i'd expect on a top 100 hits station honestly. "like omg she is sooooo overated, and her fans...do you see what they were! like thats sooooo 1999" Bruce did tire of the tour life for a while there, but i know alot of people who like X Factor and XI. Im reminded of the expression damned if you do and damned if you don't. if you have lackluster album or 2, your damned, if you walk away for a break from the madness of the tour life, your damned. of course people were hurt when Blaze stepped in, name one big band that had vocalist change that didn't piss off longtime loyals. If Tom left Slayer, i gurantee many slayer fans would turn away and call him a traitor or somethig. In fact when i saw iron Miaden live it seemed liked everyone in the building knew Blaze's songs just as well as Bruce's. Initially alot of people may have been butthurt over bruce leaving the legacy he started, but i think the songs grew on people overtime. and musically, Iron Maiden raised the bar on technicality at least on guitar, never thought much of their bassist. But it was intricate ahead of its time, and they still write great symphonies that really amplify classic songwriting. Personally my fav song is off Final Frontier i love When the Wild Wind Blows, great song about the illusions created by the media. and bruce has always done a great job on writing when hes focused on a subject.
