I'm 101% with you on the size. Take anywhere and easy to run indoors. But I think Axial has blown the goat by sitting back and not keeping up with the competition. 1/18th scale manufacturers have been blitzing SCX24 with new releases and new advances and better RTR offerings. The SCX24 has always just barely made it into the 'hobby' grade from 'toy' grade and really is lacking too much out of the box for the price compared to rigs like the Ascent 18 and the Evo Pro. FCX had more bang for the buck years ago right after the SCX24's came out. Axial has just fallen asleep. They should have come out with 24th RTR's with LCG chassis, high clearance links, good servos and better wheels and tires, at a minimum. Plus a bigger motor and more flexible ESC couldn't hurt. Myself, I just can't see buying another one only to have to toss half of it just to make it reasonably fun or 90% of it to make a real ripper. Just as cheap to build ground up. DIY a chassis and all the links. And get a GT5 set-up that I can you on a bunch of rigs and only need to get extra RX's. Just my opinion. I think Axial's SCX24 division has really blown it or they put the bean counters in charge.

I appreciate your thoughts mate, and to an extent agree! I think the SCX24 is still a fun way to get new people into the hobby, and it well represented at local Hobby stores. Thanks for your comment!

Love those SCX24s! Another thing that wasn't mentioned was the amount of space( for multiple rigs)you will have with 1/24th scale versus 1/10 scale. MIDWID!

I love them for the simplicity and availability of affordable spare parts (mainly from Injora, i am in Europe and they send without shipping costs and for some reason i never pay customs fees, i absolutely love their parts always include lots of screws and mounting materials).

Worm gears definitely have their pros and cons I love them for the low gearing you get but the feel isn't the same as a ring and pinion crawler in my opinion. I personally don't think the scx24 are worth buying when you can get a lot better trucks around the same price. Although I still build with the platform because it can be the most capable if you're going for a custom competition crawler. Great video! I like hearing different opinions in the community

Thanks for your comments, There are a lot of different vehicles to choose from now for sure! I guess what you buy depends on your end goals, at this point most people have bought several SCX24's and moved on, and I get that. There is something about the SCX24 that just works for me, I just enjoy driving them and that's what it all about!

Scx24s are nice. I prefer Fcx24s from FMS though, 2 speed transmission as well as everything from the scx24 besides the radio batteries. Redcat Ascent 18 is amazing out of the box, ugly as sin though, it has great low speed control and less esc whine than the others out there.

Hes back!! Yea, hands down the best micro crawler out there. So many things you can do to make it your own as there are so many parts to choose from. The number 1 indoor crawler out there, even does pretty well outdoors too.

You made some good valid points. I have the original Deadbolt, with a few upgrades and love it. I think it's the best of the series purely because there's no body rub. I had the Chevy first but the body rub was so bad on the front arches when the steering turned it actually stopped it from moving. It was very frustrating when I was trying to make a video. I sold it and bought the Deadbolt and it's the best decision I made.

The Deadbolt is a fun little rig! Tire clearance is awesome and I love the short front end with long links out back! Thanks for hanging out mate!

I've never had a Gladiator, so I was keen to pick this one up. It's the most capable SCX24 strait out of the box for sure! I'm looking forward to modifying it a little, but want to keep it pretty scale. Thanks for hanging out mate!

I'm new to Micro Crawling, but have experience with RC Aircraft. What's an advantage of going brushless on a Micro Crawler? I also have an older Axial SC10. Thanks for any info!
@havikhobbies
@havikhobbies 3 ай бұрын
Just like with RC aircraft moving to a brushless motor gets you better power density and efficiency. Makes more power, runs cooler with longer run times! Also software improvements in recent years with FOC from Furitek and the sinusoidal algorithm from ESC'S running AM32 firmware, have greatly improved the low speed control you get from a brushless motor! I hope that's helpful, thanks for your comment!
