I’ve found this to be a great feature. I would say to anyone hesitant about trying this to just try it. It’s easy to use and certainly when using it with the Reface series there’s no danger of overwriting anything on your synth as you just save it in the normal way via the onboard menu. I haven’t tried it with the MODX yet so can’t comment on that but can’t I,whine it’s any different. A great source of inspiration!

Dom, there are so many sounds on Soundmondo that it is getting harder to find something. Can you suggest to Yamaha to add previews for the sounds? A small sound clip showing the sound would help a lot.

Hello Dom thumbs up for all your great videos...!The only problem with soundmondo app is that doesn't save the samples of a performance.....so if a sound is made from user samples it would not be loaded....Only the midi infromations are saved....

There's midi support on Android way before iOS. Just that some developers are lazy to write code natively for both iOS and Android

I think the problem with Android phones is latency. I've been trying to use my synths with flagship Samsung phones since S7. Last one I tried was S22 and the latency makes it useles.

Latency is a good point for sequencing. But just for transmitting a data sound patch.. latency shouldn't matter.

Are the sound compatible between the instruments? Can I use Modx-Sounds on the Cp88? And where can the sounds be saved? In the Cp88 itself or not? Will there be a library with completely new samples like the nord library or are there just variations of the basic sound-architectures? I didn't find any answer to that and would be very happy to know more, because it is crucial for me, regarding buying such an instrument or not.

Hi there. I've connected soundmondo to my Yamaha YC88 using Chrome on my MacBook Pro. The green light for connected is on and it looks to be connected but it won't let me press the sync button. And I can't get any sound out of my keyboard from soundmondo. When I hover over the sync button, there's a little picture of a circle with a line through it. Do you have a suggestion as to how I can solve this?

Hi Dom, and thanks for your great video. A great limitation at the moment, in my opinion, is that there's no way to export from MODX and import on a Montage. Library files' format isn't compatible backward. Is it possible with Soundmondo? If so how? Another question: what about performances that use custom samples? Are the samples transferred too, if needed? Thanks.

@@robkoppens9966 I havent tried as of yet, I found these instructions from the MODX Fan page on FB.. You need to access soundmondo.yamahasynth.com/ on a computer (works only with Google Chrome), then create an account. After that, turn on your MODX/MONTAGE, take a USB cable (like the ones used for printers) and plug it into the USB interface on the back of the keyboard and in the computer. Eventually refresh your web page on the computer and you should be able to see on the top bar a green circle saying "Connected". You're all set. Just browse for a performance that is compatible with MODX/MONTAGE, click on it and then click on "Sync" - in a few moments, you'll see on your keyboard's screen that it is receiving the data and will automatically load the performance. You'll be able to play and use the scenes attributed to it. What's very cool is that if you like the performance, you can store it on your keyboard so you don't have to connect again to soundmondo to play it. (I don't know if you need to previously install the Yamaha Steingberg USB kit. I think that's only when you use your keyboard as an audio interface. But if it doesn't work without that drive, you can find it on Yamaha's website).

As described in the video: as soon as I click on "SYNC" it opens up a blank page where I am able to insert a new name and description after editing this particular Performance. So this behaviour is feature. But simultaneously it sends the bulk dump to the instrument. I did a check right now to make sure that there are no common problems with Soundmondo but in my case it works with both - MONTAGE and MODX. Did you use Google Chrome? Did you try another USB cable? No hub, but a direct connection with the shortest cable you own (just for a check)? Are you on Mac or PC? Computer's OS?

By clicking a button in soundmondo, you get the sound directly in the synth. In the case of montage / modx you can save it with a button in the hardware.

The preview everyone is asking for is just a click on the website and you get a preview before having to download it into your machine first...

@@DomSigalas To my knowledge, the Reface CS has no local save or recall function, and I have a Reface CS. I very much dislike dependency on tech with short term planned obsolescence, like this. The Reface series is still very good on its own, but I'd like to see future gear with options for more long term use.
