I am a new-ish market gardener in Michigan, Zone "6" (read 5). I appreciate learning from someone else in a colder climate. Because I try to start bringing produce to my local farmers market in March/April, I plant seeds climatized to zones colder than I am. ❤

Glacier Country montana here--90 days 'top' growing for our farm so we've adapted to eat what does well here like Black Currants etc. Agree with the taste of food from our region, especially in the grass fed beef. Everything you mentioned, we can relate to! So excited that the younger families moving in are carrying on the grow your own food traditions. Its tough to live here, our community has the opportunity to be a healthy hub--very grateful!

That's so cool. I love hearing about people farming in insanely tough climates. What do you grow?

@farmtablewest5991 we are mostly hay fields for Angus, our Orchard of apples plums apricots raspberries blueberries and ribes (currants), 750# of t8trs our main crop, parsley and cilantro, beets baby! garlic and onions, carrots, collards, peas, and surprisingly every kind of herb especially sage and rosemary. Some years we've done well with pumpkins but not this year. The land is recovering from decades of abuse and earth has amazingly brought to life primitive forage foods for us including Hawthorne and plantain. We enjoy every growing season with new eyes and having the agility to nurture what the land provides without too much intervention! Some things work and sometimes they don't buy that is only temporary in most cases. We lost several trees due to cold maggedon in January and big summer storms, this provided an opportunity to plant even more perennials and have gratitude for the abundant harvests this year and looking forward to when our Son and Grandkids take over . Now time to rest, happy holidays from ours to yours!

We will be farming in a similar climate. they say it is zone 3b. It is just south of Bend, Oregon. It can occasionally freeze at night during the summer so that will be a challenge. The daytime summer temps are generally in the 80's. We will be building soil from basically sand. Right now we will we will be experimenting with the soil building and then growing for ourselves. Thanks for your inspiration. I understand the passion for growing food.

Content related question for you- what programs do you use to edit your videos? I just planted 1500+ cloves of garlic over the past two days, and hopefully will be closing on another plot to lease before the year is over, and will want to document my journey. Any content creation advice would be greatly appreciated, friend

I use Filmora but it's bad. High quality mic helps a lot and just use your phone. Study youtube video techniques.

Hi Zach, just curious, if you really think that raw vegan is the right way go, why are you saying you don’t want that? I love all that you are doing for the community and especially these videos so people can see that food needs to come back to our yards. Its keeps me encouraged and I have some big plans for next year. ❤🥗

I'm not saying raw vegan is the right way to go I'm saying that incorporating more raw living food into your diet changes your health in a big way. I'm not good at articulating these big ideas yet which is why I'm practicing with these videos. Check out FullyRaw Kristina to see what I'm talking about. I'm not a raw vegan.

@ yeah I know your are not a raw vegan or even a vegan, I watched the video. I was asking that question because I never heard of “raw vegan” and it sounded so wonderful. I heard you say a few times in your videos how you “don’t want” to be a vegan, I was legitimately interested in your reasons, as we are both growing our own food. I’m not a vegan myself but I would love to be, that’s why I asked. Anyways…thanks for the lessons and the zoom call, I’ll pay it forward. ❤️🥗
