The fact of the matter is that we've been systematically betrayed by politicians that have no loyalty to native British folk. They're more interested in handing out benefits to alleged asylum seekers and swarthy immigrants, regardless of wether they come legally on an airplane or illegally on a dingy. People who work for a living are punished heavily, whilst people who can't be bothered to get out of bed and malinger with fake illnesses get free rides. The housing estate I grew up on is now 90% Pakistani, whose inhabitants are openly hostile towards white people that come to visit their elderly relatives. The UK government supports causes and issues I have no interest in; wether that be the expensive war in Ukraine that we fund, or LGBT propaganda, or nonsensical green energy policies that have no bearing in reality. On top of all of this, we're taxed the highest amount since WW2, the state pension age will be well in excess of 70 in a couple of decades, and we've all had to live with crippling inflation and poor interest rates for 5 years now, whilst for most people wages haven't gone up in close to a decade. All this whilst we have homeless veterans on the street, young people who can't afford houses, a piss poor education system that teaches people nothing, and crippling debt for anyone who wants to pursue University. The fact of the matter is that Britain is a country in serious decline, and we aren't what we once were. They key thing to remember is that all of this could have been prevented, but we've been sold out by elites who're more interested in turning the UK into an offshore banking island for the mega-wealthy, rather than a haven for normal people. The country I grew up in like a knight that's been killed on horseback whilst still in his armour; still on his horse, but slumped over and dead, yet to have fallen to the ground. You leave to Australia, matey. And don't look back. I married a South African bird, and live in NZ now. I'm much happier here.

I'm 44 and would leave the UK tomorrow if I could. I have no reason why I wish to spend the rest of my life this horrible little country. Immigration is my biggest concern because it is destroying the country and eradicating the British way of life. There are no longer opportunities in the UK and the quality of life is pitiful. My advice to anyone that can get out of the UK for a better life, do it. Life is too short. Unfortunately, I am stuck here and it is making me ill. I wish you all the best in your new life.

Hi I am a 63 year young Dane. I recently talked to a guy from NZ. I know it is not AUS, but close. He told me that over NZ a big ozone hole have taken residens. It is resulting in that you have to use a lot of sun block, several times a day. He also told me skin cancer is way higher than the rest of the world. The clouds you hate, are your friends. Just take it into your calculation. Western AUS is quite a long way from NZ, so it might be fine. Good luck.

Just be aware that house prices in AUS are very high, im about an hour out of Sydney and a 3 bed house is £420k, now that might seem a good or bad deal depending where your coming from in the UK. The big benefit though is we moved over here in January and doing the exact same job for the exact same company but over here, went from £40k to £90k, so overall we have more money in our pockets, plus its mid winter here and its 18c, thats not such a bad place to be.

Hi Sam. I fully support your decision to leave the UK. I'm a British citizen living in Oman since 2018. Initially, I missed the UK due to nostalgia and emotional ties, but my parents had their reasons for moving-my dad's terrible work experience and my mum's family issues. They both believed the UK wasn't the right environment to raise us. Over time, I came to understand their perspective. I turned my feelings of missing the UK into enjoying life in Oman by making new friends, enjoying the food, and embracing the peacefulness. Oman is also much safer compared to the UK, which has been a huge benefit. It takes time to acclimatize to a new country, but it's worth it. I wish you and your family the best of luck wherever your new path takes you all. Best regards.

Another bit of info for you. In all states in Australia, a heavy rigid truck licence (HR) or above (HC or MC) is exactly the same licence required to drive a bus. You only need an additional passenger transport vehicle driver authorisation (PTD) which is simply an application and then being issued by the department of transport if you are of acceptable character and meet the medical requirements. Non of those ridiculous claims that a bus is allegedly entirely different to a heavy rigid vehicle and, as such, requires a totally seperate test and licence. That rule is nothing more than a money spinner in the UK.

And another bit of info. In Australia you are covered by the Federal award system of pay. This means you are paid by the hour and must be paid weekly. None of those rip off all inclusive annualised salaries paid monthly like they have in the UK. Time and a half for the first 2 hours after 7.6 hours and double time after that as well as double time all day on a Sunday. That's not to say that there hasn't been numerous cases brought before the Fair Work Ombudsman of employers (particularly rural employers) who think that that rules don't apply to them and that if they pay a slightly higher basic rate, then this somehow gets them out of having to pay the appropriate overtime rates. It does not. Employers who don't pay in accordance with the Fair Work Act face significant penalties as well as having to rectify the underpayments should a complaint be made against them.

Good luck to you and your family! I am Ukrainian and relocated to the UK in 2015 for work. After obtaining citizenship, we visited Sydney and Melbourne and traveled around those areas in January 2024. I would definitely agree that Australia is a better choice, and if we were 10 years younger, we would have stayed there. Due to the war in Ukraine, we cannot return home, so we decided to work remotely from Albania and Spain instead of staying in the UK. The reasons are the same: depressing weather, high cost of living, and especially food prices and quality. In Australia, the food is amazing! My ex-boss relocated there and wants to retire, but he is belgian so I guess they have the same shitty weather so Australia wins again))) While we have been visiting New Zealand, our taxi driver was telling that from time to time he was travelling to AU for some truck driving contracts as there is high demand so wish you to find a great company and enjoy driving there!

I'm about to go in the HGV industry living in Japan as I'm a mixed Brit living in Japan, and after gaining 1-2 years experience here I'm planning on moving back to the UK (as drivers are paid next to nothing here with very little time off) to get into trucking there. If I like the job I'll be getting in the UK I'll probably stay, but if not, I'll be moving elsewhere to places like Australia. The NHS situation is a bit concerning in the UK, but would you consider going back there to be a bad move? I just simply want to earn more and have more time off, which is hard in Japan.

Spot on mate. Without wishing to sound like a stalker, one day do you want to meet up for 30 mins for a beer or a coffee/lunch before you move? Similar age trucker and I think I’m not too far from you in Dartford. Just want to say thank you for KZbin, and the work you do. You’ve taught me a lot in life! You look really deflated. The weather you can’t really control; (although it has been shite this year)! But it’s annoying, as all the problems you mentioned are man-made and can be improved , but people do nothing but moan🤦‍♂️ 1 thing you forget to mention is our appalling road network and our SMART motorways. Even taking a short trip to the beach can take half a day to get there now, with our roads 🙈. Worst motorways in the world.🙈 About the wages, I was speaking to a driver at London Gateway last week who was earning £17per hour in 2004 to drive a 7.5T truck!! 20 years ago 😬 Life will be hard in Australia for the first year, to adapt and start again. But suss it out. And it will be worth it for the rest of your life💪🙏 P.S. I’m thinking of moving to Italy in December too. I know you’re really busy with moving, but if you do want to meet up, the coffee/beer/lunch is on me 😃☕️ 🥘 🍻 Keep us posted with the videos:)

Immigration is a key aspect of modern politics and it’s prevalent all over Europe. Everything makes more sense when you realise that the “system” is designed to keep you working while paying for the privilege.

I got similar situation in uk, morgage on the house is reaching £1400 a month lucky me i got some £20000 savings (4-5 years more and i have money to pay directly the flat) and £2650 spending on a terminator figure 😂 first movie arnold from the police scene. My woman is polish and she reachs end of the month with £145 only. Lucky me i can save £1000 monthly. We been discussed to buy a nice flat in Poland close to a big town, 20-30min drive with the car, they talk english around weather good no more mortgage council tax and other bullshits. Council tax is a robbery in uk for what? My job all times with changes management is crap she dont see me monday to friday only weekends company dont care to keep me on day shift... If change job will be worse as other firms pay less and more hours to work, agency is not safe as can be quiet times and no work = no morgage to pay big trouble. Want to have my flat something around 50000€ no morgage to pay a easy job even if not lorry driving can be factory work and have more time to be free at home. Kids in uk must receive lots of vaccines otherwise they get ban to go school doctor or any other places, who knows what they make them but that is not good and other thing they teach them to be gay, lesbian change gender this is insane dont want have baby in this country lol

Nice big houses/Nice weather and the people are meant to be nice on the most part. Every Ozzy I have met have been great and real fun to be around. Due to it being a big island things can be a lot more expensive than here but then wages are higher to compensate so not all too bad. I agree with everything you said. The wages have been stagnant for over 20yrs whilst the world prices have sky rocketed. Middle class is now poor. I am from North Kent and don't get me started about this place now from when I was a kid. I can only put the feeling down to like when BIFF went back in time in Back to the future and gave himself the sports book and now we're stuck in that same time line he changed lol

Kids flying at you on bikes and scootrs in the middle of the road, No police any more, shops now get robbed weekly, prisons full lol the country is a joke. I'm stuck where I am due to family but in a nice private estate that sadly gets targeted due to people here having better things in general. I fear for what my kids will grow up in. But once they're of working age, we will move away to Dorest/Poole area or maybe weymouth way. Again wish you all the best bud, and look forward to the Auzzy way of life content.

Dear British people, I came to live in England in 2018 from Hungary, mostly because of the same issues Sam mentioned here. Now in 2024, the UK is fxxd up the same way and I feel the sxxt reached me again. I’m fed up honestly. The only difference is the level. UK is much more wealthy so there is more time to sink. But the same path will lead to the same dark pit. Populists, corrupt politicians, lazy and ignorant people, simplifying complex issues, closing minds and borders and excluding more and more humans, being too pride, referring to the rich heritage to have at least some positivity... this not the right way. Be smarter and learn from other countries' mistakes guys. Good luck Sam!

Dont blame you, country going downhill, cost of living, rubbish weather, no work life balance etc Will you be doing hgv when you move ? ALso I have a question and id really appreciate if you can answer. Is it possible for someone with hgv license and sufficient experience to be able to work only 4 months out of the year if they want to do seasonal work and if so, does this depend on the company or agency if they will allow this and in your opinion, will it be possible or realistic for a company to take you on for 4 months or would someone with experience find it hard to get work 4 months a year? In a nutshell someone wants to live abroad 8 months then return to uk for 4 months will he find difficulty in getting a job with hgv? Hope that made sense

Im a black lad born and raised in the UK. Moved abroad and havent lived in the UK for 10 years. The UK is by far one of the least racist countries in the world. Its not even close. Brits are classy, polite and respectful. Are there a few idiots? Of course. Just like everywhere. The fact is mass immigration has been an absolute disaster in the UK and the elites are hellbent on permanently destroying the country by importing some of the worst people from around the world. For context, i’ve lived in Dubai, UAE, for the last decade and they import the finest people from around the world. Strictly NO riff raff policy, including those from their own religion/culture.

It's great to get experience of living and working in another country. I've been very fortunate, possibly due to my earlier life in the Army (they paid for my HGV 1 that I never use!) and getting a taste for travel. Been to 73+ countries and 40 US States so far. I've probably spent half of my life living or working abroad. You'll find plus and minus points everywhere you go, may even find things to complain about that that you never even considered previously. What I found living in hot climes was that the summers become similar to UK (Scottish in my case) winters, where you simply don't have so much inclination to spend time outdoors. The cost of living has certainly increased in the UK but I would say that overall, it's still very affordable, compared to many parts of the world, especially, when you look at overall cost of living. I can do many things, far cheaper here, than I could even when I was working in developing countries. I wish you the best on your trip to Oz and it all works out to your expectations. From my experience, folks who leave the UK and move to Oz seem to think it's the best move ever. Others, who live elsewhere, after growing up in the UK, then move to Oz, seem less keen.
