It made sense in a time where women didn't generally work but that was a long time ago. If both spouses work, it makes no sense that you need to pay the one who makes less money because... 'accustomed to a lifestyle'.

I think it goes both ways. See just as many guys who have had so many gf's That there not worth dating. Because the chances of them being loyal is also very slim. Both have problems. That is the problem with hookup culture and why I don't prescribe to it. I typically stay single for 5-7 years before I find a good relationship. Im a widow my partner died. Still haven't found anyone and still haven't been on any dates. So its not entirely true that women can't pair bond. I was loyal to my kids father and he died in a car crash. He was going to see his gf and had just had a breakdown, split, and he was not loyal. So it goes both ways.

Its not very fun when you've been together with a man a decade and they "Break down" have a "Midlife crisis" and want to explore options cheat and die on the way to seeing their gf they just got enguaged to within 2 months of leaving. Leaving 2 little daughters behind youngest was 7 months old oldest was 7years. They loved their daddy and if he could have just been loyal. So trust me it goes both ways. Having kids puts pressure on relationships and what he "loved" and "wanted" in her is she was like we were before he had kids. Only seeing his kids once a week was enough for him it wasn't for our littles. Yes he treated them good then but going "Poof" i want to be a teenager agian in your 30's is a mess. It happens. I was his first. And he still didn't fully pair bond. Heck after that mess Im not shure if id ever date agian. I didn't cheat, was loyal, and was traded for a new model.

Sorry to hear about your husband. When you are talking about a population it is implied that you are speaking in terms of generalizations. The counter argument 'not all' is not an argument. The statement that the average woman cannot pair bond is not proven to be false because of your personal life experience. I think you are also implying that I am saying that hook up culture is women's fault. I actually would say that hook up culture is men's fault for trying to cater too much to women. The genie is out of the bottle though so trying to get women or top 20% of men to be more traditional in dating would be impossible. The dating market won't change until hard times comes and women become more concerned with security, then men will adjust to fit women's preferences.
