I have to agree... Coming from the V-Twin world, one of the main reasons I went to a Goldwing is so I don't have to want or need add-ons and upgrade. After decades of fiddling and wrenching my bikes, all I want to do with this Wing is ride and maintain it .
@richthereturnrider6737 Жыл бұрын
All great reasons. Smooth, handling, great performance stock, no premium fuel… almost 16k on mine. Just purchased Fred Harmon videos for the maintenance. The air filter change should be fun. Great video.

This is my first wing ever, 20 DCT Tour. Got it new. This bike spoiled me so badly that I honestly, don't know what else I could ride in the future. Simple as that. I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEE the DCT. I am done with manual shifting. 30 years of riding and no more clutch for me. The paddle shifting is a gift !!!!! Good video, brother.

Your number 2 reason is what sealed the deal for me in 2018 when I took the leap. Apple CarPlay integration trumps all. And that low compression engine that takes 87 octane is a close second.

Another awesome video!...now that I got that out the way!!..The BMW K1600 is too expensive when it comes to once you but the bike, If you take it back to dealer, well...Just pull up pants down, and ready!!!.Parts..forget it, and just drop to you knees...and If you can get the parts, can you afford the proprietary tools. Suzuki, Yamaha, and Kawasaki are all 10 years behind in product research, and development!...and Harley road glide, street glide FHDL......What ever just PISS ON....them..Yeah I said it!! can't sell me a nightmare, and disguise as a great American dream...lol

Profound truth! Globally sourced parts make the American icon not much different than any product shipped to our shores from foreign lands. Except for the paint and name. It’s global. Enough buyers seem willing to pay premium for paint and name.

@@craighanesworth I might be just a little biased about the GoldWing! A lot of my family rides GoldWing's. I was born In Niagara Fall, NY, my cousin too, he lives in the ALT now, and he just picked up his 2nd GoldWing, out of Florida, and here in Detroit where I live a whole lot of my friends ride GoldWings.

You hit the nail on the head on the K. I couldn't agree more. I had the same issues with a Grand America I use to own. I will never touch a K again. Owning a German bike, you need to be ready, Fun to ride, yes. sick engine, yes. Sexy looking, yes. But...but...but reliability wise, not so. As they age, crap starts on you and then go and deal with the dealer. Forget it. They charge you by the second and 30% more then average bike, by the hour. Then, ask for a loaner, forget it. None available. And I am talking about a very large dealer, if you have one close by. These bikes can get ugly with you, or may not. I got tired of taking the change of troubles with a new machine. Thank God, she is gone.

For me the most impressing is this DCT ‘s quick smooth jettison off the line acceleration. Those Staged Harley’s are quiet surprised. Most noticeable benefit has been the reduced overall mass making this bike more nimble bike. Having had two previous generations, 84 and 96, all were solid reliable performers but this new Gen is the “winner for the chicken dinner”. Now I may not be able to head down that grassy knoll just off the highway in the event of highway traffic to high-tail it done the frontage roads like your GSA. But for me, this bike has been such refined touring pleasure. Now with a Full Monty compliment of LED Gold Strike accessories. Hard to be humble here…It’s not bad looking either. Ride safe and often. ATGATT.

You are 100 percent correct. The DCT is in a league of its own. It's hard to explain to people how good it is. They just have to experience it for themselves. Ride safe!

I have a 18 dct. Great bike. I agree with most of this. Ease of maintenance, sort of. But replacing the air filter is not fun. Having to manually adjust and readjust the rear parking brake is inconvenient at best. And i think the bike needs softer/foam grips. But my favorite feature is the DCT. The walk mode, forward and reverse, is 🤌

Yup, the Airhawk is what I purchased. I no longer use it but, I'm happy I had it. OH and the number 6 reason is...No stages needed.

From a purely bike perspective, I prefer the K1600. More power, lighter weight, more fuel, more storage, better seats, etc. However, when my K1200LT is ready for retirement, I won’t buy another BMW due to both the sparse dealer network and the customer indifference I have consistently experienced from BMW and its dealers. BMW’s new policy of not selling service manuals to customers was the final straw.
@craighanesworth Жыл бұрын
I understand your frustration with BMW. I have been fortunate in that I own a 2023 R1250 GSA. So far my dealer has been outstanding. However, you are right about the network being small. Ride safe
@LTVoyager Жыл бұрын
@@craighanesworthThe dealer I bought my 2007 K1200LT from was terrible and went out of business a few years after I bought my LT. They were the “closest” dealer at about 110 miles away. The current closest dealer is 150 miles away and seems like a much better dealership, but is just too far away. So, I’m looking hard at other brands, even though, as I said, from a purely bike perspective, I do think that BMW currently makes the superior bike for touring, be it luxury, sport or adventure.
