I have a different view on some points: -There are single surface gliders that weight less than 20kg and set up in 5 to 10 mins. -I can setup a topless in 15mins. -The Funfex and other fexes breaks down to 2m if I need. -There's good used equipment for a fraction of new, that will last many years -After you buy the equipment, a wing can last well over 10 years of flying, harness can last much more. I've flown gliders 30+ years old. -A dedicated student can learn in 1-3 months -The cost of riding a carbon bicycle can be much higher. Finally, I actually enjoy the whole process of a flight, from packing the gear on my car, going up the mountain with friends, setting up, breaking down, eating a burger with those friends, chatting about the flight... And on the rare occasions I have a sled ride flight, I'll film other's landings. So... No real good reasons not to fly. Go learn and do it.

I love your flying skills. You show exemplary launches, excellent soaring abilities, and awesome control during approaches and flares, even in no wind.
