I am a driver in Saudi Arabia for a period of 2years 9month now, and the company that brought me here has made my life horrible, but one thing I can say, is that Saudi is the best country to live and work in for the focused minded individuals. My contract is ending in a year time but if by any chance I can get a company that will employ me directly, I will be so glad to come back to Saudi to work and live here. I love Saudi Arabia for their culture, and the rules.💓

Good, balanced video. Especially the part about nor "fighting" the culture or the way things are done. Things can often be frustrating and illogical (especially in a work situation) but I've learned a long time ago that the Saudis do what they do, how they like to do it, and that's it. You can make suggestions or leave, but fighting it only harms yourself.

All really good reasons tbh, my husband and I were in Riyadh for 4-5 years, we were both teaching. When you’re working, time passes quickly but when you’re not, I mean when I was on maternity leave after having the baby.. time wouldn’t pass! It was so boring, I’m talking about 2011-2012, things were still pretty strict then in Riyadh.. women had to be accompanied and it wasn’t so safe to go out alone, that’s when I just wanted to run away from there! The boredom! And now it’s become quite expensive in Saudi.. and there’s the tax, when we were out there, we made good money but then they cut the pay by 70% 😮because of the Saudi-isation (getting Saudi’s in the jobs)… that’s when we left the place and came back to the good old Blighty!

Life in Saudi Arabia is like any European or American country, but without alcohol, without street gangs, without gambling, without prostitution, and without nudity. You can leave your car unlocked without your door or door being stolen. Also, there are no murders or thefts Here the people are more social and concerned with family unity, assistance, service provision and hospitality. I say, welcome among your brothers

Oh I'm amazed why did you go crazy?? I regret that...but you must respect our principles...we do not like seeing women naked in the street, at work, or on the sea. You can book your own chalet and sunbathe on the sea naked. In the end, this is your private area. No one can see you. You cannot drink alcohol, so if you do not... You can do without her, so she does not come. It will be difficult for you. She can walk everywhere alone, but she must wear appropriate clothes. Perhaps your relative did not adapt and was unable to establish relationships. She remains alone at home until he returns. Yes, when you live next to people, you do not expect them to knock on the door and appear polite. A relationship with you because you lived next door. Everyone is busy with their own lives.

Hi Pete, love the videos, best on KZbin for a possible move to Jeddah! I’m currently in the position of a potential move from you UK to Jeddah, leaving my family in the UK for a year while I see what it’s like, while it’s exciting it’s also scary has heck to leave them behind and possibly not be able to get home quickly in a emergency - this is the reason I past the opportunity up 6 years ago - same person/company offer. I have so many questions but don’t want to be a nause, so let me ask the most prominent questions that keeps bubbling in my head: *is it true your passport is retained by the sponsor - trapped in the kingdom *Haven’t seen an offer yet but I would assume some form of accommodation is included - large company very wealth and generous boss - what’s the best way to make friends, are there particular goods to forums to meet people in the same situations - would love to spend the time and oppressed to sort my fitness - maybe 10% of what you do 😂 Hope you’re both well and let’s have another video soon! Hello Pete, I think you need to consider other Nationalities (Arabs, Indians, Pakistanis ... etc) who come here and know that they won't get any benefits except doing "the year" and making that "big money" because they know they won't get anything more. If they spend money here they and live that year "experience" wise they know it is not their country and they won't get any nationality rights. I know you're speaking to a European/American audience but kindly consider including those also in your experience in KSA. It's a beautiful and clean country not gonna lie but more than that it's not lasting for those nationalities.

It is not permanent for everyone. Granting Saudi citizenship is almost impossible. You must offer many privileges to obtain it. As for permanent residency, you need a lot, a lot, a lot of money, and for investment you need to be a partner in a company abroad or have the financial ability to be a partner in a company. I think it could be an awesome experience for your family. I’d consider what type of life you want for your family and go from there. From what I hear from friends with families here is that from a safety and security point of view it’s great. Equally schooling can be very good at some of the international schools. And from a broader growth of the mind and experience it would definitely be up there as a huge opportunity. Less time commuting general, more quality family time too…

Hello, Pete! :'D First of all, Happy Saudi Founding Day! It's 2024 :') So happy to find this video. And admiring you for your confession about the "elitist mentality" you had before. Very much YES on when you talked about being nice and humble. Expats talk down (belittle) the Saudi people, and it is so annoying to say the least. We were given the opportunity to live and work here, let's give some respect to the people and the places. And contribute, learn, engage with them. I read this in a comic book (nerd alert! :'p): "It is not for me to tell you what to do. I will say, though, that you, like all of God's children, have a responsibility to the piece of the world entrusted to you. That is your greatness." ~Moshe Chomsky [a.k.a. The Acidic Jew] (to superpowered teen Deb-U-Ton) Common Grounds #3 (2004) "Sanctuary" (page 11) Writer: Troy Hickman Hope to see you around... if you're in Riyadh.

Can I ask - is it safe and easy to live there as a solo female? None of the points above is a deterence; at mid 30s I am over the party lifestyle I enjoyed in London/NyC and just want good life, calm culture and reconnect with Islam.

I have a friend and his friend who went to Saudi Arabia and they told me that they respect women more than men. Security in Saudi Arabia is very high and crime is almost non-existent. Therefore, I will travel to Saudi Arabia next March.👌👌

It is possible to live as a single woman. There are upscale residential complexes for female workers and students, in which all requirements are met, and relationships can be established with female students and employees. Also, you can live outside these complexes in family housing...and you will have no problem with anything.

@SasSas2025-nv4gp
@SasSas2025-nv4gp 7 ай бұрын
When you rent a car, it will have comprehensive insurance against accidents, so you pay somewhat reasonable insurance fees. There are many rental companies and the offers vary and are many. You can browse their websites and choose the appropriate one, or seek help from public service offices when you do not know where to get an item from or how. Do you do it? These offices are located on every street..

My honest advice is if you are going to Riyadh don’t bother driving the stress of it….. you will be mostly stuck in traffic with other drivers honking and being angry and sometimes driving at you. I would not drive there.

I visited. I could see the benefits. I found the hyper capitalism slant a little perturbing and the whole shopping culture extremely boring. I found people very curteous and felt safe walking the streets. There is an over arching tension I felt though - I am dubious if it has progressed as much as it might like to claim. The drivers in Riyadh are nuts. As I woman I wouldn’t like to drive there everyone seems so frustrated… the city is just beeping horns soundtrack. I enjoyed it but feel it is still quite restrictive and slightly dull. (I am non drinker so that didn’t come into it however it did feel like the socialising was not happening atall). Men were courteous and I did not feel worried out even with uncovered hair and tatoo on my wrist showing at times no one blinked. Not convinced I’d live there even for all the Versace handbags in the world.

There are no jobs in this field, and if they exist, the priority is for Saudis. It is preferable to look for another field to work in or acquire other skills that will help you find a job opportunity. It is preferable to find a job for yourself before going there.

You can make good money in Saudi and the hospitality of it's people and development of the country is good. But the bad thing is that you will never ever be a Saudi and you will always be a foreigner. And remember life is only once, living in a country where you can't enjoy what all the world's has to offer and you only live to work as a country in Saudi, you will definitely miss out on life. It's like jailing yourself far away from the world and my question is. That is your definition of happiness? 🙄

I’d agree with this and disagree at the same time. We all hold values that are part of our identity, a lot of which are similar irrespective of where you are raised in the world. Family, generosity, kindness etc… The manifestation of them may vary though. I think being able to appreciate this difference and being willing to learn about another culture is vital to enjoying life in a different country. Neither is right or wrong and there can be beauty in all approaches. Openness, kindness and respect should all be universal human values.

Welcome to Saudi Arabia anytime, I am Saudi and I will answer your questions honestly, for families it will be very comfortable there are places to spend time with your family whether you have children or not as for food there are many restaurants whether Arab or even foreign or if you want to cook there are many shops that sell western groceries, I laughed when you asked if girls go to colleges of course they do. Sorry I wrote a lot, but we love to have people visit us and show them our culture and honor them I wish you the best thank you ❤❤😊
