Fendi Fan de Fendi sounds interesting. A leather aquatic scent. Versace Man is an underrated gem. It starts kind of harsh but that quickly tones down and it starts to smell like a grape soda.

Fendi Life Essence is probably the best sandalwood fragrance I had...tragically discontinued. Me, I still have M7, Escada PH (gorgeous), Antidote and a few other long term discontinued frags. But the one I really made sure to stock up was my signature YSL Rive Gauche PH. Have about half a litre of the stuff....wanted to make sure I never ran out!

100% agreed. At one point in the last 3 years, I searched for and considered all of them. Couldn't find them all, but I did end up purchasing more than half of those mentioned. Luckily, if you have an analyst's mind, you can probably spot the trends well in advance and come out on top in the long run. On the whole, it seems that companies are now streamlining to ultimately support a single trendy fragrance line, with multiple flankers (options) that contain small variations on a theme. That way, when the trend suddenly shifts, they can axe the main line quickly - keeping the highest sellers, which they reformulate - and start a new one that contains the trend. Exclusive lines generally tailor to a different buying demographic that encourages owning more than a single fragrance and will therefore have more variation. But with sharp increases in material cost and other factors, they eventually reformulate those too, making every fragrance a potentially discontinued one. My solution is to simply buy only what I love, and 2 bottles at a time. No fuss, no muss.

Hey Ash. Nice round-up. I don't closely follow which fragrances get discontinued, and tbh if I run out of a particular fragrance and find I can't replenish I'm not going to be heartbroken (there are bigger things to worry about, and there are SO many other scents available). I have about a half bottle each of the VC&A and Lanvin, and an almost full bottle of DSquared 'Potion'. I won't be rushing to pay silly $$ to replace them.

Have a backup bottle of Midnight in Paris, bought it a long time ago, right before the price increase. Also, have a bottle of Calligraphy Rose, bought it with a bottle of Perry Ellis Oud Black Vanilla (the price is also doubled) back in 2017 after your Winter Fragrance recommendation video. Very upset that I missed a chance to buy a Gucci for a cheap. Thank you for all your work, you truly have an amazing taste, that I very often rely on!

Wow, my grandpa has some of the fragrances that you show here. My grandpa has a mens clothing store that also sell frags. A lot of the fragrance that he sell are vintage one and they are cheaper or at retail price when they come out. Why? Because my grandpa wants to retired soon. Last time i even saw Gucci Nobile there. I hated that the Gucci Pour Homme II was discontinued. It has been one of my favorites for years and I went to buy it again not long ago and realized I could only really get it on eBay for like $150 which is a lot more than the original price. Though I've thought about it.. I haven't bought it. Instead I've bought a bunch of new fragrances that I enjoy and I've gotten into fragrances more in general. I still have like a quarter of my Gucci Pour Homme II left and I want to grab another bottle, but I'm not sure I will.

I regret not having bought more bottles of Midnight in Paris and Avant Garde. All I've got are too small 30ml bottles and both are almost halfway through. Both are fantastic fragrances, especially considering I paid 18 bucks for MiP and 22/23 for Avant Garde.

Givenchy Play intense was my signature sent for many many years, before I got into the game a few months ago I picked up the XL(150ml) version. I have all sizes now NIB (50,100,150ml) . The scent is only available in 1 store but it is the new style bottle unfortunately. It doesn't last as long as when it came out.
