I kind of love that you have 'elementary, Watson' in Russian too! It's so fun and I love seeing the 'human' side of a language of words like this that become sayings from movies/books etc. This series of videos are amazing, thank you!

Hey there... U r a great teacher.. Russian becomes easy with your learning... I can speak Russian but not with the proper accent and sometimes I translate it from very English... For example i asked once one of my friends -y tebya est bisplatno bremya??? 😂😂 and everyone laughed... Later i came to know it would be -swabodniy bremya.... So i still need to improve and learning with you is fun....

Раз плюнуть учить новые общие фразы от вас. Я заметил, слушающий ваш видео, что моё произношение определённых словах не так как у вас. Например, лёгкий, плюнуть... и так далее. Замечу наверное когда говорят медленее. Разрешите меня задавать вопрос... какой ваш любимий Русский комединий фильм? Я хочу посмотреть - и с русскими субтитрами если восможно.

Hi Madam. If Просто/Легко are adverbs, why do we say Это было просто/легко ? I mean, do they mean "It was easily" ? How about we say Это было простой OR экзамен был легкий ?

5 Russian phrases to say something is EASY Hello everyone! Here I am again with more Russian phrases for everyday life. And in this video we're going to talk about how to say that something is easy and simple in Russian. Let's get started... 1. Number one has two versions: Легко /Просто = simply, easily[adverb] Lekho/prosta And they both mean simple, easy. You can use them absolutely equally. Those are the adverbs, and also we have adjectives for that :- Лёгкий [Lokhiy]= easy.[adjective] But remember that the adjective, “лёгкий”, also means that something is light. For example : -A light bag Лёгкая сумка [Lokhaya sumka] -Light as a feather Лёгкий как пёрышко Lokhiy kak pyoryshka And also it has a meaning as” easy and simple”, for example : Easy Exam Лёгкий экзамен [Lokhiy ekzamen] Easy task Лёгкая задача [Lokhaya zadacha] And at the same time you can say: Простой экзамен [Prastoy ekzamen] Простая задача. [Prastaya zadacha] -It was easy. Это было легко. [Eta byla lekho] Это было просто[Eta byla prosta] 2. Way number two comes from the way number one and here we have two phrases: Easier/piece of cake Легче лёгкого Lekhche lokhava Проще простого Proshche prastova So, literally it means easier than easy and simpler than simple. In English, usually it's translated as a "piece of cake." ★ For example, your friends ask you about some very difficult exam, and for you it was pretty easy and you can say: -Ha! Easier than easy. "Ha! Легче лёгкого!" Ha! Legche logkava!" -I did the assignment/task like a piece of cake[very easy] "Я сделал все зандания проще простого." "YA sdelal vse zadaniya proshche prastova." 3. Way number three is very informal and this one is : -It’s a breeze. Lit: As easy as to spit. Раз плюнуть. Raz plunut'. And this one you can use with your friends. And maybe when someone is offering you some difficult task and you can say, "Well, for me, it's very easy maybe again, for me it's just a piece of cake. -For me it is very easy. Для меня, это раз плюнуть. Dlya menya eta raz plunut'. 4. Way number 4 has just one word - Elementary Элеменатарно. Elementarna. And I'm sure you understand that this is “elementary”. It's super easy; its elementary, and we use this word a lot when you want to show that something was very easy. And even if it was not but you want to show that you're so cool you can say: -It was super easy. Это было элементарно. Eta byla elementarna. Or maybe if you are you know, being bad and your friend doesn't understand some difficult text, in a text book and instead of explaining that you just say: -Ohh, it's just so easy, nothing to explain. Это элементарно, нечего объяснять. Eta elementarna, nichivo ab"yasnayt'. ★ And ... what else interesting about this word? Very often we add "Ватсон" there. In Russian translation, “Ватсон “ is Watson. Watson, ... very famous Мr. Sherlock Holmes' friend, Dr. Watson, and it's the line from the books and from very popular Soviet movie... -It’s elementary, Watson… Элементарно, Ватсон... Elementarna, Vatson… And you can use this with your friends, and Russian people do it a lot. 5. Way number five is very interesting in Russian, it sounds like: -Literally: It's easier than a boiled turnip./ It's easier than to boil a turnip.[an idiom] Проще пареной репы. Proshche parenay repy. ★ This expression dates back to those times when Russian peasants were cooking those turnip porridges and it was very easy, like today, to boil potatoes. You just put them in the water and wait. What can be easier than that? And, since we had no potatoes in Russia until Peter the Great, the peasants were using turnip. So, when it's something very easy you can use this phrase. Remember that you can't say : Легче пареной репы. [Lekhche parenay repy] No, it's an idiom and you cannot change it, just: -Literally: It's easier than a boiled turnip./ It's easier than to boil a turnip.[an idiom] Проще пареной репы. Proshche parenay repy. For example, again someone asked you about your exam And you say: Well, how is the exam? Ну, как экзамен? Nu, kak ekzamen? It's easier than a boiled turnip Проще пареной репы. Proshche parenay repy. Аnd everyone will understand the exam was pretty easy for you. And those were the five ways of saying that something is easy: Легко / просто =Easy, simple Легче лёгкого =Easier than easy Проще простого Раз плюнуть = It’s a breeze Элементарно =It’s elementary Проще пареной репы. =Easier than a boiled turnip. So, next time when you want to say that something is easy don't use just “лёгко” or “просто”, make your Russian sound more natural and use one of those expressions.
