Last year I bought several wool kilt-skirts (short) from a traditional Scottish brand, The House of Bruar, that I love. (Many of their wools are sourced, spun and woven locally, in the best British textile tradition). I didn’t realize that kilt skirts would become a trend this year, so I’m doubly pleased I got them. I just loved kilts because they are so classic, just my classic/preppy style. It’s been a great year or two for trends, most of them have been classics I loved already. Extreme trends just don’t endure for more than a season. A lot of my wardrobe budget is spent on high-quality, natural-fiber items like wool blazers, separates and coats; silk tops, skirts and dresses; and leather clothing and accessories. So, they need to go the distance, which means the styles must be classic and as timeless as possible. Thanks for showing us these basics.

I just love what a silk scarf does for an outfit, they’re one of my favorite accessories. They also protect my super-sensitive neck skin from all the itchy wool and cashmere sweaters I wear. Good leather belts, too, make a big difference in how put-together an outfit looks. My personal rule on belts is that I always wear one with the bottoms that have belt loops, they look unfinished without one. I also add them for shaping in other outfits, as you did in your white outfit (which I love, too). So the outfit with the khaki green suede jacket and scarf is probably my favorite. I’m not a fan of shirt-jackets, though, for myself I would choose a more tailored, fitted or shorter style.

The Tomi is more classic and the Samuel more modern, looser and it has a relaxed vibe. For my personal style better. But the Tomi is better quality definitely as is 100% Yak wool
