Something common in music in Spanish, is that as there a lot of different accents, the artists try to sing with a "neutral" accent to make their music more international.

This is how it is with southern artists as well. Lead singer of the band Paramore, Hailey Williams talked about purposely hiding her country accent in an interview with Ryan Seacrest. Miley Cyrus’ accent is also gone. Rihanna tries to hide her Barbados/Caribbean accent as well. I think like 5sos said, they’re just trying to make it easier for us Americans to understand them when they speak and there’s nothing wrong with that. I do however don’t judge them just because of what their real accent sounds like. When you’re as talented as them and all the other artists that I named in this comment, it doesn’t matter what accent they use in their interviews. I could careless❤️ keep up the good work, boys.

THANK YOU! Australian-American here. Born and raised in Fitzroy until I was 16 then moved to America. Lost my accent strictly because Americans couldn't understand/ made fun of me so I adapted to the American accent. Honestly, wish I didn't change. There's a lot of more Aussies in American media than there used to be.
