The two best kept secrets of Virginia beach imo are shore drive, and Pungo in general. Shore drive has some very nice beaches, but they are locals beaches, so if you go, you must be respectful, and quiet. Some of the best farm to table, and seafood restaurants can be found along shore drive. Also, there's the lynhaven river, which offers some of the best kayaking in the area. Pungo is a great place if your into berry farms, wine, pumpkin patches, and farm stands.

Rox Mattern. Shore drive is a segment of RT 60, which runs along the Chesapeake Bay coastline of both Norfolk, and Virginia Beach; as well as the oceanfront. One of the many beaches it passes through is Chesapeake Beach aka, chick's beach, which is the stretch between little creek Amphibious Base, and the lynhaven river, where the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel makes landfall.

Definitely not as great or as family friendly as it used to be. My oldest son is almost 16 and has only been to the board walk ONCE bc it isn't what it used to be and isn't sage even during daylight, our once amazing city is slowly decaying. 😔 Now sandbridge and chiks beach are a diff story lol.

@@smile-more_worry-less9966 also c2 in Punto, but it's pricy, and a bit of a drive, but it is pretty nice. Freedom shooting center used to be colonial shooting academy. I don't know if they changed ownership, or just re-branded. Also, in norfolk there's bobs gun shop, but there range is pretty small.

For restaurants the locals know, I would add Chicks Oyster Bar near the mouth of Lynnhaven Inlet, and Rudees on the north side of Rudee Inlet. And another interesting spot is the old Cavalier hotel. The history of that hotel is very cool, with so many famous people from the early 1900s staying there, ghosts and a famous suicide from the top floor (or was it a suicide?), etc. It has been renovated and is beautiful now.

Lollys ice cream on 17th Street is the best! The “Narrows” on 64th Street is one of VBs best kept secrets, calm waters, lots of hiking trails. I didn’t even hear about The Narrows until after I had lived here 10 years. Perfect spot for SUPs, Kayak’s and boaters too

Where should you go if you're visiting? Pungo Pizza has been around for a long time and makes excellent zas. Aviation Museum is just....awesome. They have warehouses of meticulously kept and displayed aircrafts, treaded and wheeled vehicles, tanks, artillery, small arms, uniforms, the whole 9-yards! Strawbridge Farm has a petting zoo and a bunch of seasonally appropriate children's activities like a hay-ride and strawberry/pumpkin/xmas tree/whatever picking. The aquarium IS dope. Ocean Breeze IS kinda fun. Motor World IS an alright place to spend 2 hours. All three are pricey and told in order of fun>cost ratio. These are our more famous attractions but they deserve to be mentioned. Munden Point is a nice little tucked-away park deep in Pungo and has some remarkable swampy ravines that you can paddle through. There's also camping and children's activities there. Mary's Kitchen is one of, if not the oldest breakfast diner at the oceanfront and offers a fantastic American breakfast for very little. If you want an affordable plate of eggs, hash browns, bacon and toast then you should check this place out. The decor is classic and donated by locals, especially surfers.

Trashmore was like “what the heck” I literally lost it. People playing on a mound of trash🤣, however definitely beautiful place. I thought of something that locals know that tourist don’t is how to properly pronounce Norfolk 🤣, the first time I said it after moving from NY I was laughed at as I said “Nor-Folk” and they said yep you definitely aren’t from VA. Lol, I quickly learned. Again, thank you for your videos and all the information you share. Can’t wait to move back “home”!

Steineys is the finest dining you can get in VB, and yes it is in the very back of a 50 year old neighborhood. If you didn't know about it, you would never think that its back there. I believe that you can bring your boat up to the restaurant, but Im not sure. The witch duck bay is not easy to navigate, IMO. Hurd's restaurant was another one of these gems tucked back in a neighborhood, but that has since gone.

It's Thalia Rd man. Thailya is how you pronounce it. Born in va. beach (actually Norfolk General). Local from Tidewater moved 21 years ago like Mrs. Gross below. I also don't know what the VIBE district is. It did not exist when I lived there. And, yes Sandbridge has always been a very cool place back in the day.

Dang!!! My hubs and I are on our last day here and this would’ve been so perfect to watch bf coming down! Now we just have to come back in sept, once it gets less crowded. We are staying in the 50’s up north. Rudees lobster rolls, ambience and drinks is dope. Rockafellars was cool for a sunset but the food was eh. Harpoon Larry’s has GREAT hurricanes and their steamed shrimp on Saturday (for $6!) was divine. TNT has great quesadillas but their fish taco was bland as heck. Cavalier has a bourbon distillation tour (for their tarnished truth brand) that ends with a really cool tasting! And finally- RENT AN ELECTRIC BIKE FROM TULA SPORTS!!! They are literally the best way to see the entire area and are ridiculously fun to ride!!!

But she loved it so much she had it gone by the time we got back to the hotel lol....also the Neptune statue at night is absolutely magic and had such a vibrant atmosphere. As a tip I would advise not bringing a ton of stuff to the beach and having a person watching everyone at all times on the beach cause it can get crowded quick

First Landing State Park is great for swimming if you aren’t into waves. It’s where the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean meet. Very calm, relaxing waters

Are you sure you're a local? The Pungo Strawberry Festival was cancelled in 2020, 2021 and again in 2022. You-pick strawberries are sold by the pound. You can't pay $5 and gather as much as you want. You mispronounced Thalia Rd. when talking about Steinhilber's Restaurant. You could have stuck to the resort area but you had to mention Sandbridge.
