DL...I am so guilty of no. 3 working too hard...I practice a lot of fast stuff at slow speeds and I catch myself just digging into the fretboard...so much that afterwards my fingers ache...this is so important to be aware of...great stuff my man!!!!

I love the fact that you'll shred and then slow down and then shred some more , so it's not about how many notes you can slam into a song, but making music!! Great instructions!

The definite truth is I really dont like to as fast as I can all the time haha although the jam in this video was more just balls to the wall style I believe even speed has its limits and placements Like you said ultimately your making music not setting a guiness world record

Deakon, I will reveal my little secret I mold my pick to the curvature of my thumb and I hold it sideways so that the tear-drop point of it points towards the web of my thumb. I use the side of the pick to actuate the string this allows me to cross pic a lot faster by rocking the pick like I am writing with a pencil. I know it sounds weird but it works very well plus it makes using my thumb to creat single string mutes and squeals easier. Love your tips especially #5 setting small goals that you can realistically achieve boosts confidence and keeps you motivated towards the larger goal of becoming great at your craft (Baby Steps). Thanks for sharing with us.

Great vid man!! Very helpful for what I'm trying to accomplish right now. I changed my pick grip recently for better tone, and faster picking. Went from more of a finger tip hold to holding it more with the side of my finger and clamping with my thumb. This vid is exactly what I needed! 🤘

Now if there was just an informative vid on pinch harmonics somewhere. 🤔 How. Best place on strings. Ect. 🤘

I cant seem to relax, my hand feels like its a visegrip when i grip the guitar neck and when I try to pick it like that -the pick seems to always turn in my hand and i end up picking with the side of the pick. at that speed how do you keep the pick from flying out of your hand and putting your eye out?

It might be that because you worry about dropping or losing control of the pick that you grip it harder in Hope's to prevent that and it may be causing your fingers to turn the pick from this compensation Keeping the pick parallel or around 30° to the strings will allow the pick to easily pluck the string without it scraping the side. Less motion needed less effort given. As far as relaxing it comes in time and comes with confidence it's something to keep in mind through your practices it actually will start developing naturally a little but always keep it in the back of your mind A good way to relax is to breathe A lot of people will forget to breathe while playing Things to think about are: unclench your jaw, un shrug your shoulders, relax your toes .. things like that. Almost like meditating Hope that helps
