How long do you guys rest between workouts? For me it depends on the workout, but typically 4-5 months.

You are pushing yourself way too hard. This may lead to injury. I'd recommend 12-18 month rests.

I started to work out when covid hit and it seriously makes you feel amazing after a couple weeks it becomes a habit and if you don’t feel like working out one day just do it anyways you will be so glad you did

This is pretty accurate and highlights the main problem, which is trying to do all at once. For me it really worked, to just stick to working out. Do the excercises that are fun for you. And worry about perfecting it later. Also food is way harder, so don't change what you eat immediatley. Go one step at at, so that when you fail only the newest step failed, and not everything. You can do it

There's a solution to this. Step 1) get into the habit of working out regularly. Eat whwtever you normally would. Step 2) when you start seeing improvements, you'll naturally begin to make better dietary choices because you're already in the habit of working out.. which is the most difficult part. The rest is easy. 👍

I always worked out like a horse, couldnt get up from the bed the next day and called it quits after the second visit to the gym, being unabled to work out again, cause i was still sore a WEEK later. Rinse and repeat in a few months and we have a uroboros. Its best to start with small, effortless habits like, I dunno; "10 push ups every morning to start the day." Then add 10 more push ups and maybe some crunches and more, creating a simple, quick home excercise to build up the habit of "doing something". When I hit the gym again, it felt better, kinda like I knew what I was doing and what I wanted to do. Dieting I still battle with, passing up on beer and soda has been ok, but passing up on my favorite food is a nightmare.

A guy once told me " saying you want to get healthier without having a plan or goal is a waste of energy" You gotta have a goal or plan to help push you. Simply working out to be healthier isn't enough, what do you want out of it. For me, I want to become a firefighter and complete my FIRST 5k, but I also want to be muscular.

You can still be fit and not be on a strict diet. If you want to loose weight and gain muscle, as long as you're on a calorie deficit and are meeting your macros (amount of carbs, protein, sugars, etc.) then you're good (and you're working out of course). And remember, if you break any diet once or twice then it's not all over forever. You can still continue with that small bump in the road.
