5 State Snakehead Challenge (PA, NJ, & VA)

Join me in Part 2 of attempting to catch at least one northern snakehead in each of the 5 main main states they inhabit within 2.5 days! We will be exploring completely different bodies of water while using various shallow water fishing tactics to wrangle them into the kayak.
In Part 1, we crossed Maryland and Delaware off the list, in this video we are chasing them in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia… in one of these states the snakehead were on a feeding frenzy 😜

When was this filmed? I'm planning a trip to NY for snakehead in the next two weeks, do you think they'll still be guarding fry then?

This was in mid june. Yes, until the end of august is a great time of year. The initial main spawn has passed, but in most areas some fish will continue to spawn and be in fry. Never a guarantee thing, but there are usually a decent amount of fry around until mid September

Great video, but why are you releasing them? They are invasive and supposed to be destroyed. NJ Fish & Game: The Fish Code identified thirteen such species (see below). These fish are considered to possess the potential for becoming a significant threat to indigenous animals, the environment, or public safety. Possession and/or release of live potentially dangerous fish species is prohibited and if these species are encountered while angling they must be destroyed.

I release just about all of them that I catch. It is legal to release them in same body of water that they were caught in. There’s been a huge misconception of the impact these fish create. Since introduction, there has not been any science proving negative effects. In fact, some bass fishing has actually become even better since in areas like the Potomac River. They are a blast. I’d rather help grow em big and keep some every once in a while
