Very good. Just a detail to add, it is currently possible to use the Healing Tool and the Clone Tool non-destructively in the GIMP in a transparent layer, without having to duplicate the original layer. Just activate the Sample Merged option

@@DaviesMediaDesign I don't really understand how this technique works, or why it could be helpful (duh...Me Supa idipt!!!:) DO A TUTORIAL REGARDING THIS CONCEPT. By the way, You are the best tool in my GIMP arsenal. Thank You so, so very much!!!

Using the Wavelet decompose effect along with Healing & Clone is akin to what you can do in Darktable to retouch skin. A very powerful effect for this type of edit. This is an excellent tutorial on how to do this in GIMP! I'd also like to see how you would approach damaged photo repair with the latest GIMP.

sorry this has nothing to do with the subject here, but I was surprised with how good you are at touching your opposite fingers each time your hands open and close. When I do that my fingers not always touch that perfect. It seems perfectly parallel, without you looking at them. Bravo for that.

Great video, I remember doing the layer mask airbrush technique in college. Couldn't remember how we softened up a face and it was this method. Lastly how did you get GIMP 2.10.18 to look like PS CS3, your layout looks very familiar to me and I like it.

Thanks for another great tutorial. I remember watching one of your earlier tutorials about skin retouching using a high pass filter, so I went back and watched that tutorial again. How do you rate the results of doing the retouching using wavelet decompose vs high pass filter and when would you use one instead of the other?

So question. I have a sports photo of a kid who has a face mask on. Is it even possible to remove that mask and basically recreate some sort of lower mouth? It is a wrestling photo so the kid has a wrestling headgear on with a chin strap. I would be interested to hear your thoughts. TIA

I have been watching this video and followed your steps until the high pass layer and my airbrush does not seem to work after applying layer mask black full transparency. Only works if I do not apply the mask layer. Thank your for your tutorials.

I am getting back into gimp from ages ago. I always thought I was blurring, burning, smudging through the new layer and onto it. Grabbing pixels from the visible under layer and only affecting the new layer but not touching the lower layer. but now it seems that what I thought I used to do is not happening and I get a freeze of the mouse and a message in the info bar. Is this possible or do i need to keep duplicating the layer like you do here?

Do what every one else does and get an add blocker and a popup blocker. For websites that block add blockers, a popup blocker should remove that overlay.
