@@Tobynsocks I am beginning to agree with both you and Jezebel Claire regarding Ty's pronunciation of certain cities. It does appear that he is doing it purposefully to get more comments! Otherwise, he would have fixed that by now. The only thing with that though, is the fact that many people who watch these videos are from cities like Dublin and Coventry, and when those cities are constantly mispronounced, it HAS to piss those people right off, since they have all asked for it to be corrected in the past, and in some cases, over and over again. I wouldn't think Ty would want to purposefully piss off some of his viewers, but I could be wrong. I am afraid it is a good recipe for losing those viewers that actually are from Dublin, Ireland and Coventry, England. I guess we will see.........lol.

In Noel's case the UK National Insurance number is the key to this. Much like the American SSN, there's a great deal you just can't do unless you have one - including UK state benefits, taking on most legitimate jobs with legitimate pay arrangements, or claiming public healthcare. I don't believe you need an NI number for exclusively private healthcare. Contributing to things like National Insurance will get you a state pension later in life amongst other things, and the DWP would have records of all of this and any other benefits he applied for. Changing your name in the UK is _mostly_ perfectly legal (there are edge cases), but as you say, why wait until 1991 to do so? He will have had his reasons for not wanting to contact his family. Those reasons are likely not public and we should respect his wishes.

Poor Brenda. A brilliant scientist but a very bad judge of character. While it’s good they finally realized and proved her former husband murdered her, it is so frustrating that he essentially got away with it. He had 40 years of whatever passed as a “normal” life for himself. He was 82 when sent to prison. Old age is a tough time, financially and physically, and he will now be taken care of, probably much better than he would have been on his own at that late stage of his life, with the help of taxpayers money. Very unsatisfactory resolution, imo.

The first story reminds me of my father-in-law's father - he disappeared without a trace in the 1960s, leaving behind his wife and 11 kids. Everyone assumed he ran out, but literally no one in the family ever heard from him again. I asked my husband "why does everyone think he ran off? Does no one think he might have been murdered?" Seems like a possibility to me. My husband and his dad aren't close, so it's not something that we can dig too deeply into, so I guess it will remain a mystery.

It was somewhat common in the past for people to just run off. Divorce was either ilegal or socially shameful and it was ridiculously easy to live without documentation. You just went far enough away and started using a different name. It's historically men that abandon their families but women did it to. It became an epidemic during the Great Depression and Western Dust Bowl.

Coventry is pronounced like Cuvven-tree, instead of Coe'-ven-tree and as always, Dublin is pronounced like DUB'-lin, accent on the Dub, instead of Duh'-blynne. I bet that drives both English and Irish people absolutely insane, when he continues to pronounce those both incorrectly. I think we have all asked for that to be corrected, but what else do you do? Regardless, these are still great videos, and Mr Ty does actually pronounce most places and surnames correctly, so there is that to be thankful for.

@@mlewandowska85 I am sure that is so. I can only imagine. I know it would make me either kind of uncomfortable, or maybe even somewhat ticked off, that my home-town or country was being constantly mispronounced, even though we have all asked for it to be corrected. I also think some of us humans are much more affected by other peoples' mispronunciation's. We are usually history or English teachers ( though not always ), so we do what most teachers do and try to teach and/or correct mistakes. I have taught history in the past, so my teaching instincts come out all the time, as they have here. Have a great evening over there in Europe, wherever you may be!

March of 2024 , 1961??? I’m so baffled by the amount of research and time is claimed by these KZbinrs. There seems to be either an incorrect date, duplicate scenes and even misinformation in a majority of these videos. Among a few others he pronounced wrong. Could be using AI for the speaking. Many channels do that now to save time.

The people behind the scenes of this channel completely ignore comments, as do other creators who think they're above paying attention to their subscribers. The mispronunciations can be numerous and maddening, especially since the mispronunciations are so odd. Although I doubt that the narrator is synthetic, the problem serves as a caution to those who think that they're really talking to KZbin creators when they post comments.

@@marekprochazka1284It’s not AI, he has another channel where he’s actually on screen (true crime stories). His name is Ty Notts. I dread the videos with stories from Ireland 😂 Then again, he used to pronounce Edinburgh as Edin-Burg so that’s a plus

That last case seems like a whole lot of circumstantial evidence. I'm surprised they got a conviction but I'm pretty sure he did it.

His name is "Tie Knots"?!!! He actually talks very much like AJ on The Why Files (WF?) on KZbin. Same expressive nuances. His mispronunciation of "Dublin" could be deliberate if it’s AJ. A way to dissuade anyone from coming too close to guessing his real identity. AJ is a brilliant, precise speaker, very articulate with perfect grammar, just like Tie Knots. His narratives are easy to follow even though the subjects are complex. He’s a scholar. He likes "playing", as evidenced by Hecklefish, an annoying "goldfish" in a glass bowl on his WF? videos "Tie Knots" (most likely spelled differently), would be just the kind of name he’d choose for a shadow person of himself as a raconteur of these mysteries…tying loose ends and unraveling the puzzles.
